I guess the socialistic experiment is not working just like the rest of the countries that have tried it. Oh well, at least now the experiment is over. The rolls are increasing due to the inclusion of illegal aliens, woops, I mean undocumented aliens.

      Doubting Thomas,

Please define Socialism then lay out why you believe the PPACA is a Socialist experiment based on your definition.

        This is a loaded question.

How about you simply make the argument that the PPACA is actually a good plan, seeing as you don’t believe that? You are creating a huge argument that doesn’t need to exist based on how this guy used the word socialism. Who the hell cares? With how much you say republicans talk crazy, THIS is crazy. This talk right here.

How appropriate is it so go after someone for how they talk in order to gain debating points? How appropriate is it to say the very action of hating socialism, and sects of the government that promote the harmful types of socialism, is basically a tin foil hat lifestyle? He isn’t going for a tinfoil hat. He doesn’t like harmful socialism, and you just tried to make his argument not exist by making a definition of socialism that will allow you to philosophically make an impossibility for him to agree with any government in the known world without being a hypocrite to himself, despite the fact (and this is most important) that you ALSO don’t like the law. So you agree the law is bad, and you just want to mock the fact that he doesn’t like harmful forms of socialism. Just to you know, show him how much of a hypocrite he is.

I swear at you, because you are an @$$hole. Calling someone a @$$hole is human. You, while sleazy, are also human. Perhaps you should act like it, and show some more humanity when debating conservatives.

        Go after his core concept:

Are the countries that go after universal healthcare better off than those who don’t?

Has the PPACA helped the economy, or do we have evidence it slowed hiring? (hint, later of the two is true)

I once debated with you regarding a few areas of interest.

Mainly that if you remove vehicular deaths, and violent deaths, we have equal life expectancy, equal infant mortality (if you change the methodology to be the same for infant mortality in each country, each has a different definition). Now where this is interesting is we do not have equal Obesity. Switzerland is the best example, since their obesity rate is less than half of ours. We are equal in every way when you balance it like that…Despite the fact that obesity affects the infant mortality rate (so if people weren’t obese, we would have a better infant mortality rate) it affects heart disease and cancer (so if people weren’t obese we would have less heart attacks etc). It shows our system is the best in the world.

Also, on the basis of what your philosophical argument was going to be (unicorn argument) a purely capitalist nation does not exist. So you try to instantly compare aspects of governments that are socialist to say that socialism doesn’t harm economies. But you have no evidence. You tend to think you are more clever than you are.

It is typical of someone not grounded in beliefs (such as yourself, considering you rarely if ever actually vote in favor of getting rid of things you don’t like, for example the PPACA, and hate the republicans for trying to do that) to rely on philosophy and semantics /word choice in order to make someone seem like they are not credible. It is however, not an ethical choice of debate. You usually think this makes you better than the conservative debaters here, and you quite often insult the way they talk, how they appear, etc.

Maybe your concern is appearance rather than facts eh?

The point I was making is that people on the right misuse the term Socialism as a scare tactic. That is all I was saying.

For the record, as I have stated many times in the past, I am against the PPACA in its current form. Therefore, why should I defend it?

I just point out the realities of what is going on and how Republicans are at least as hypocritical as anyone else.

Agent, the majority of americans are not against the ACA. They are either against Obama no matter what (you people), or they are against the compromise of the ACA which did nothing to reduce costs (me). In that respect, the ACA is probably a decent law and a fair compromise since both sides seem to dislike it.

            2) Obamacare, ACA – Are totally different from the above. Coverage is still being provided by private industry through health insurance carriers. Only a portion of the premium is being covered for only a portion of the population.

Libby, I stand corrected. They are not the same thing in practice. In principal, however, Obamacare is the beginning of the slippery slope that leads to the others. In the end, it becomes socialized healthcare, which you are for and I am against.

As an FYI, I am for many things. Liberty from govt oppression is a big one. Upholding the Constitution is another one. Loving my neighbor and helping them is really high up on the list.

I only pointed out it’s the same means we use to gather all federal funds, so it’s no more oppressive than any other tax. If you are against taxes, just say that. But you didn’t. You specifically said it was oppressive to collect takes to provide healthcare to citizens. I happen to think it should be one of the top 5 reasons to pay/collect taxes. Other than securing our country is more important than that, pray tell?

Libby, I have a close personal friend who nearly died at the hands of the incompetent VA. He needed a simple gall bladder operation. They fiddled and farted around with him for two weeks, gave him some anti biotics and when he got so bad infection set in, they told him they didn’t have a general surgeon to operate, so he came home, checked into the local hospital and got surgery the next day. The surgeon told him the infection was so bad, he would have been dead within a week. That is the kind of care that has been well documented across the country last year.

            Hi Libby,

My personal experience with the VA has been horrible. My father was treated for a kidney issue there (Vietnam Vet) for two years. They gave him pain medication repeatedly, but never investigated the issue and what was causing the pain. So, two years later he goes to a specialist on his own. Turns out he had cancer. Four years later it is considered “gone” (as gone as cancer can be).

I can tell you stories like this all day Libby. I’m sure that regular hospitals make major mistakes too, but if you do any sort of review on the VA, you will see this is common. Some of the issue stems from them seeing too many people. Other issues are the fact that someone is finishing at the bottom of their class and that is usually who winds up working in the VA.

Libby – you are who Gruber was thinking and speaking of when he said the American people are too stupid to understand the ACA. He has further said that coverage for certain procedures would have to be denied for the program to work fiscally.

Ron – Socialism defined as follows – an economic theory or system in which the means of production, distribution, and exchange are owned by the community collectively, usually through the state. It is characterized by production for use rather than profit, by equality of individual wealth, by the absence of competitive economic activity, and, usually, by government determination of investment, prices, and production levels.

Obama knew he could not get complete control of the healthcare system at this time. However, he created an albatross that would eventually lead to it, if we are too stupid to stop it. The single payer system advocated by Libby would make it socialism.

I wish you people would wake up and admit that you were duped by Obama, Reid, Pelosi and Gruber.

As much as what you would “like” to have and have faith in, reality is, if the healthcare system is not for profit, eventually, those who become doctors for financial reasons (many of which are the most intelligent persons) will seek other professions.

We will then be left with doctors who are not the smartest and brightest. The quality of the healthcare will inevitably regress and exceptional care, as you put it, will no longer exist. This is what is happening in the countries you mentioned. This is why people come to the US for better doctors. We can learn from history. If we don’t, we are destined to repeat it.

P.S. I’m not moving. The Constitution was formed to allow us to have a free society. Free from government oppression. I am tired of the government mandating what we have to do, then taking our money, to do it. If you do not like the Constitution the way it was originally written and intended, you move.

Who ever said doctors will not continue to be well paid? There are people who work for non-profits who still make a lot of money.

How about we pay for the doctors’s education on a sliding scale the longer they work as doctors. That would limit their debt, make the profession more appealing, and how reduce how much money they need to make.

Where in the Constitution does it say the government cannot provide healthcare to its citizens? You find that, then I will move.

A right leaning Supreme Court confirmed that the PPACA, including the mandate and fee/tax/penalty, is Constitutional.

Integrity – there are plenty of doctors who, believe it or not, are physicians because they want to help people. Others that are in it only for monetary gain, probably shouldn’t be doctors.

In addition, even with universal care, no-one is advocating eliminating a private option. There are many in this country that have the money to purchase a private option and may seek higher level care if they wish. We aren’t taking that away from them. But for those who don’t, they should be afforded healthcare just for being a citizen of these United States. The fact that you republicants are against healthcare for all is mind boggling to me. I hope you are never sick and without insurance.

@Ron – I do not have enough time nor is there enough space to explain how the Constitution has been ripped to shreads by Obama and the Supreme Court.

To answer your question, there is a difference between “provide” and “mandate”. “Provide” is what Medicare was already doing for those below the poverty line. “Mandate” is what Obamacare is doing.

Under the Commerce laws, the government cannot “mandate” the citizens to purchase anything. Justice Roberts declared as much. Unfortunately, he overstepped his Constitutional authority (of interpreting laws) and chose to declare the insurance premium as a “tax”, which the government is allowed to do. This is after Obama and the Dems stated that the premium was not a “tax”.

In my humble opinion, Justice Roberts was coerced (bribed, threatened…you choose) to find in favor of Obama. Too bad he does not have enough integrity to do what was right.

@ Libby – Yes, Libby, I know there are some that are doctors because they sincerely weant to help people. If you read what I said, EVENTUALLY, that will change.

The govt dictating how much a doctor will be paid will drive many out of the profession. It is already happening.

FYI…having healthcare is not a Constitutional Right. It’s not even a human right. I am not against people getting healthcare, when they cannot afford it. That is what Medicare was suppose to do, but the gov’t screwed that up to bankruptcy.

I am against the govt REQUIRING us to purchase ANYTHING. To make an extreme point, what if the govt mandates that everyone must buy a bowling ball because using them will improve your health? Not everyone is going to use it, but you must buy it because the govt says so.

@ Libby – affordable healthcare?? That would be nice and there are other ways to make it more affordable than MANDATING it. FYI, it’s still not affordable to those who could not afford it before. That’s why they are getting subsidies. Couldn’t Obama just as easily declared that people who could not afford healthcare under the previous system would get a subsidy?

I think affordable housing is more important than healthcare. Should everyone be required to buy a house of a certain size and nature? Should all the taxpayers supplement the cost?

A fact of life is that not everyone can have everything that the other person has. This goes for housing, cars, and healthcare. As Gruber said, if they want to have a certain procedure, they will have to pay for it.

Regarding violating the Constitution, read it and try to understand it before you declare that Obama has not violated it. Not all violations are impeachable.

Obama’s role is supposed to be enforcing the laws, not creating or interpreting. Those are the roles of Congress and the Supreme Court, respectively.

He swore to uphold the laws of the Constitution. Has he done that with illegal immigration? No, he changed the law to provide amnesty. Has he ordered the Justice Dept to explain the “Fast and Furious” gun running they were involved in? How about all the lies…Benghazi? IRS scandal? I have already spoken against President Obama for his failings especially the ones you mentioned in addition to his vacations and his obsession with focusing too much on race issues. However, you can look back and find scandals during every presidency.

My point has always been, why is he treated so differently? Nobody can quantify that he has done any more harm to this country than some other past presidents. Since 2010, the economy has been growing, stock market is at a record high, corporations are making record profits, unemployment has been decreasing (labor particpation rate has declined), federal spending is decreasing, the annual deficit has been decreasing, the number of federal employees is decreasing, the value iof the dollar has increased, the annual core inflation rate has not exceeded 2.3%, the overall annual inflation rate has not exceeded 4% and is currently 1.3%, and there has not been a major, coordinated attack on U.S. soil. Should get credit for any or all of these positive reults? Probably not. The fact remains, this country is not being destroyed because of President Obama.

There were only 14 states setting up exchanges and 36 did not. Of the 14, some of them went belly up like Oregon and business sent to the wonderful Healthcare.gov, the dysfunctional website that still doesn’t work despite all efforts to fix it. Stan and Libby – Once again, I need to use your own resources to prove my point.

First, the lesson between givers and takers. The givers produce revenue and the takers suck the revenue back out.

From a dollar standpoint, CA and NY workers produce (give) the most revenue to the Fed. Likewise, their takers also suck the most money back out.

When you compare the usage, CA and NY use significantly more funds than any of the red states (TX is closest). I admit I was overzealous using the “combined” verbiage.

Kudos for both that are putting in more than they are taking out. The real comparison would be if we could identify the population of those giving versus taking. The percentage would be the tell tale sign.

Unfortunately, they are using 20 years worth of revenue/spending and I do not have the time to research the populations of the givers and takers. The populations in both CA and NY are driving the numbers up.

Really, Stan?? CA had about 37 million people in 2009. I think they are naturally going to produce more Federal revenue than South Carolina that had less than 5 million people.

You could determine revenue and expenditures per capita, but that would not drill down to amounts doled out to those who were purely takers. You would need to know the number of recipients to determine the average per taker.

Do you know what “net” means? It is taxes-spending. The top five states (the givers) and how much they have added to the Federal Government are:
            1. NY – $956 Billion
            2. NJ – $706 Billion
            3. IL – $701 Billion
            4. MN – $513 Billion
            5. TX – $390 Billion

The bottom five states (the takers) and how much they have taken from the Federal Government are:

            50. VA – ($593 Billion)
            49. MD – ($573 Billion)
            48. FL – ($299 Billion)

Thank you for clearing up that very simplistic math problem for IM.

It’s funny how the right claims that the 1% pays “more in taxes” than all others combined. It’s the same argument reversed. Of course they pay more in dollars because they have more dollars. But if you look at it as a percentage of income, they pay way less. For example:

            15% of $5M = $750,000
            30% of $50k = $15,000

Now. Who really pays more in taxes? I DO!!!

@ Ron – Yes Ron, I know what “net” means. However, the net numbers do not tell the whole story and there is not enough info to prove either side of the original discussion being “which state sucks up more revenue?”

As previously stated, CA does by the PURE numbers. I am at least intelligent enough to realize the population plays a part in the equation for both the givers and the takers. How many people actually received the handout in CA or MS? The average per person will tell you who received more per person.

@ Libby – Thanks for the math lesson. Question…do you take advantage of as many tax credits as possible that you are eligible for? If no, that is your choice. If yes, so do the 1%-ers. Don’t blame them if their NET tax rate is 15% and yours is 30%. Blame the IRS. They are only exercising their right to pay the lowest tax possible, just like everyone else.

By the way, if you just want to look at the dollars without any other analysis, the 1%-ers pay significantly more in taxes. But, you and Ron want to manipulate the numbers to make your point, just like Obama!

Because it will make more employees not eligible for coverage through their employer, thus more people applying for subsidies. Right now, you don’t qualify for a subsidy if your employer offers coverage.

“Facts” – It won’t. That comment is simply a scare tactic to convince people they should not change the law. The employers that cut hours were the ones that couldn’t afford the Obama mandate so they went into survival mode. The companies that already have full time employees and were already providing healthcare coverage are not going to all of a sudden cut hours.

Repealing this part is a bandaid and should help those in the middle class that lost hours because of the mandate and will add some additional tax revenue.

If it is a straight party line vote, than “no”, the veto cannot be overridden. I think there might be some Dems that would vote “yes” to override the veto.

FYI – did you ever think that the corporations “hoarding their record profits” might be holding onto them because they are worried what the government might do in the future?

The profits they are holding is preventing them from investing and growing their companies. Their afraid that King Obama might wield his mighty pen and dictate some other ridiculous tax.

The corporations have become predators who are feasting on the high unemployment rate, improved technology, and the productivity of the American worker to resist hiring and increasing wages.

Some Democrats and/or Independents may vote to override the veto, but it is highly unlikely there would be enough. In addition, there may also be some Republicans who vote against overriding the veto. This why I believe there is zero chance of an override.

@ Ron – Constituionally speaking, Obama does not have the power to do that. However, that didn’t stop him from his amnesty endeavor. He didn’t have the authority to do that, either.

@ Libby – Rove is a drone and supports big government, regardless of what he says. Scare tactics…oh, yeah, the Dems never use them (ohhh, their going to shut down the govt…reality, the essential parts of the govt, including debt payments, continue).

Speaking of “pathway to Death”, did you hear Gruber say the other day that the only way to make Obamacare fiscally sound is to deny certain procedures? They couldn’t possibly be procedures that could actually save someones life, could they?

The fact that you Dems believe that life saving procedures will not be denied is mind boggling to me.

Libby – I never said that Universal care = death. I merely pointed out that Gruber said that to make Obamacare fiscally sound, certain procedures would have to be denied. Logic (which you obviously lack) dictates that when procedures are denied, some people would die.

Wasn’t one of the arguments for Obamacare about all the big, bad health insurance companies denying coverage and people dying because of it? It works both ways, sweetheart. If we want more procedures covered by the insurance companies, than something has to be done with tort reform to lower the expense side of the equation.

Regarding the mortality rate in other countries, let’s try to apply a little more logic ( I know its hard for you and I don’t want to make your head hurt).

It is possible that the mortality rates are similar because:
            1) The US has the best healthcare in the world and because of this, detrimental conditions like obesity that are more prevalent in the US are better handled, improving life expectancy. This combined with
            2) The social healthcare in other countries is deficient, causing their mortality rate to be lower, even though lifestyles are indicated to be better than the US.

If the healthcare was equal to or better than the US’, in theory, the mortality rate should be higher in the countries with better lifestyles.

I am not fear mongering. I am applying common sense, which you leftists obviously do not have.

Maybe you should try to think critically before you speak.

Libby – Do you really believe that in the last 2 elections, make it 6 elections, that there were no people who were not Citizens of this country that voted?

I guess you also believe that there have not been people that have voted multiple times during the same election.

Wait…you believed that Obama was honest and was going to make some good changes for this country and Obamacare was going to work, too, didn’t you?

That explains it. Um…should I mention that Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny don’t really exist, either? Sorry, spoiler alert.

Nice comeback. Make a request that nobody could possibly prove statistically.

How about you trust me that I know people that voted that are not supposed to be eligible to vote. Better yet, how about the media documented accounts of dead people voting or people voting multiple times? Let’s not forget general corruption like 100% of voting districts voting for Obama( I guess you believe that not one person in that district would have voted against him).

You might be a sheep and blindly follow, but I will NEVER shut up about the corruption.

And for those that excuse it away with “there’s corruption in every administration”, I say that is no excuse for the next administration. The more we let it go, the worse it gets.

Libby – let me connect the dots for you. Obviously, the dead people are not voting for themselves, so who do you think are voting for them??? Hmmm, maybe it could be the illegal aliens?

Also, if no one is really paying attention about dead people voting (a.k.a looking the other way), what chance do you think there is that they are going to try to stop an illegal alien from voting?

            Are you really that naive??

I’d venture to say that political influences are using those dead people to further whichever side they advocate. It’s been done since the days of Huey Long in LA, way before we had an issue with illegal aliens.

But nice try. Come back again.

        Agent,

I am sure part of it is the increased costs to maintain safe roadways and bridges due oto the weather.

If we assume the average vehicles gets 20 mph and travels 12,000 miles per year, we pay $462 per year more for gas.

In addition, based on 2013 data, the average annual wage in NY is $54,580 compared to $44,400 in TX. I think we can absorb some things being a little more expensive, pay more in taxes to help our less fortunate, and still maintain a very comfortable standard of living.

Chicago, Dupage and Kane County all mandate some additive to reduce the CO2. Soon as you get to DeKalb County, no more mandate. No more emission testing. No more EPA BS that drives the cost up.

Less MPG for cars, ethanol is harmful to injectors and the cost of gas is higher as a result. We sit on the biggest supply of oil and gas in the world. Time to just grow corn for food and other products and give us regular unleaded at the pump. We will all be better off for it.

My jets don’t need cooling except when talking to entitled Republicans that are outraged they have to pay an additional 2% of their annual income to obtain better insurance while there are millions of people that had no insurance at all until it was made available to them through the ACA. If the parents don’t buy health insurance, the children can still be eligible for CHIP. That’s not the same thing as them being forced on CHIP if their parents have a health insurance subsidy. Did you not catch the part where I mentioned that the increase has a direct impact on my yearly raise? For someone who is so critical of other people’s comprehension – I’m shocked that you missed it.

As or Obama care – everyone has to purchase healthcare – IT.IS.THE.LAW. And IF you’re on a subsidy your
children are eligible for Medicaid and they are being put on it even if the parents don’t want them to be on Medicaid they are still being put on it. I just had this confirmed from an agent in Chicago named Rick Kemp. http://www.manta.com/c/mrsh2w3/healthcare-solutions-team-richard-kemp. Look him up and give him a call Libby if you don’t believe me. Just another freebee from the Obama administration.

“As or Obama care – everyone has to purchase healthcare – IT.IS.THE.LAW.”

No they don’t. They will have to pay a penalty tax if they do not purchase it. That’s all.

And no, I don’t take Rick’s word for it any more than yours. The article you linked DID NOT SAY THAT. Period.

Find me the portion of the LAW that says it and I will believe it. I looked and looked and couldn’t find it. So as far as I’m concerned you’re just as full of shit on this issue as you are on most others.

In addition, how do you know what will or will not affect your raise or that you will even get a raise – health insurance increase or not? Did your boss tell you “I’m spending $1,200 more for your health insurance and that will be deducted from any raise I was going to give you.”??? Highly doubtful. You just ASSume it will affect your raise. A critical mistake you guys make all the time.

Libby – Let me get this straight…you think it is okay for Obama to lie about the cost of Obamacare and people are not suppose to complain about it’s affordability (because not everyone can afford an additional $100/month even if they cut someplace else) yet you are going to criticize those who wanted to keep the old system because it was unaffordable?

            Can you say “hypocrite”?

Basically, you are saying it’s okay for someone in the middle class to be dragged down just so they can suffer with the ones already down there.

How about we create a system that actually promotes and encourages a way for a person to be lifted up to the middle class?

Wait, we already have that but the govt wants to continue to suppress the poor by encouraging them to receive handouts and not help themselves out of their poverty. There are numerous success stories like this (yes, I know there are probably an equal number of those that work hard and don’t get out. But, at least they have a chance. How much chance do the ones have that simply live off the govt??

No, of course I’m not saying that. Pay attention.

            1) “you think it is okay for Obama to lie about the cost of Obamacare and people are not suppose to complain about it’s affordability?” – NO. I do not know if Obama misspoke, was given false information, or lied, so I will not acknowledge what he said as a lie right now. As far as affordability, did Obama set the rates for the insurance carriers??? NO. You are not blaming the correct party here.

            2) “yet you are going to criticize those who wanted to keep the old system because it was unaffordable?” The old system WAS NOT affordable for the majority. If it had been, we wouldn’t have had so many uninsured citizens. Duh.

            3) As I have said before, I am not a proponent of the ACA. I wanted Universal Health Care. But, this is a start and at least it’s finally being addressed. I can live with that.

            4) “How about we create a system that actually promotes and encourages a way for a person to be lifted up to the middle class?” – Now you’re talking my language. However, big business (mainly funded and led by Republicans) sees no value in investing in that. Their profits have grown exponentially while the middle class has all but disappeared. Again, you are barking up the wrong tree here. You continue to defend the very people (party) that is perpetuating the poverty problem and you don’t even see it.

            5) “we already have that but the govt wants to continue to suppress the poor by encouraging them to receive handouts and not help themselves out of their poverty.” – It is not the government encouraging people to receive handouts, it’s big business cutting wages, slashing jobs that is causing people to NEED handouts. Why don’t you go railing against them? The government has no stake in wanting people to live in poverty. That’s absurd.

            6) “Can you say “hypocrite”?” – Yes. Almost everytime I read a post from one of you guys.

Do you think the stupid voters woke up from their slumber of 2012 and realized Progressive Democrat governance was flawed? I guess you didn’t watch the map on Election night. I am just stating that to say the country turned red is, at best, hyperbole. They only gained 24 total seats out of 535. In addition,

I am really just questioning how effective they will be at governing. Not saying they will not be effective, just do not know yet.

I thought you would be happy that there is a chance I could turn more to the right and “get on board” the Republican gravy train. Who knows, maybe I will start maiking enough money to start paying federal income taxes again.

When have I ever stated that I thought the South is racist? Do I believe there are some racists in the South? Yes. Do I believe there racists everywhere in the country? Yes. Do I believe that some African-Americans, Latino-Americans, and other minorities are racists? Yes.

The unemployment numbers are still understated. Yes, it is better, but there are still more people off the roles than what the numbers indicate. The 4th quarter numbers are effected by the seasonal employment.

People are starting to spend more now because they became more fiscally responsible due to the previous years excessive fuel costs. Disposable income is slightly greater due to personal responsibility, not government responsibility or intervention.

Stan – BAHAHAHA! The economy is recovering, not booming, in spite of Obama AND the republicans AND the democrats.

You’re right…the DOW is doing great. WooHoo! One piece of the pie going in the right direction. ONly if the little problem called the DEFICIT would go in the right direction. $18 trillion and climbing, most of which is attributable to Barack “I’m an economics genius” Obama. And that does not even include the unfunded liabilities at $92 trillion.
            Chew on this

            http://www.usdebtclock.org/

Sorry to hear that you are too stupid too realize that we are going to end up like Greece with the country moving so far left. I bet you can’t wait for the dollar to be as strong as the peso!

For you information, the DEFICIT is going in the right direction. It is going down. The DEBT is a bigger hurdle with the majority of the spending resulting from failed REPUBLICAN policies – 2 unfunded wars and tax cuts for the rich. Way to go Dubya!

            You’re the idiot, my friend.

For the next 2 years, your President you voted for twice will be the President of NO. I laugh every time I hear him say he wants to work with Republicans and then threaten a veto on anything they propose to do that is against the agenda.

On the up side, my step son been working two – three pt jobs for three years finally found a full time job.
My Brother been looking to avoid the transfer out of state, found a new job that pays him more money and gives him a company car. A 12,000 swing in annual cash flow not including his car payment.
Moral, you just never know when something going to break in your direction….

Hey Perplexed, some on this blog have said the Republicans wouldn’t do anything when they started the new term. Just today, the House passed the TRIA renewal and sent it over to the Senate and McConnell promised quick action to get it passed and sent over for the President to sign. The lame ducks had no luck in passing anything before it expired. It looks to me like the Republicans are serious about passing legislation. I wonder if Obama will veto this as well.

FFA, Please don’t give credit to Obama on falling gas prices. He was too busy with his vacation in Hawaii to even know what was going on. He may have read it in the newspaper as he usually does. There is a big feud going on between OPEC, the Saudi’s and Putin on production. They are trying to cut each other’s throats. Couple that with increased production on state lands in the US and thus there is a glut and demand has fallen so the fall in prices. This will go on for a little while until someone blinks. It might be a dangerous situation if Putin starts a war to wag the dog and deflect from his failures. We should offer Europe LPG which we have in abundance in case he cuts them off.

Based on the cost of ACA we could have given each of the 7% $1,000,000 each to pay for there own health care and it would have been cheaper then current ACA……It’s about power!!! King Obama needs it.

“I am more than a little sensitive to those who steal my moniker to make everyone think I post such garbage. Thank you for the apology.”

Okay. But I didn’t steal your moniker – it was an accident.

Ron, the New Yorkers who have moved to Texas saw the handwriting on the wall and decided the benefits of moving from a heavy tax and heavy regulated and high cost of doing business and high cost of living state was not so attractive anymore. They had common sense. Texas does not tend to have 8’blizzards as well.

It is interesting that a lot of northerners winter in the south because of the terrible winters in the north. I met a guy recently and he had a tee shirt with Corpus Christie on the front. He told me he just couldn’t stand it up there anymore. He is planning to move permanently in a few months if he can get his house sold. He also likes the lower cost of living, better gas prices etc.

Once again you have taken my post out of context. What I said was, “If we are not welcome, how come you love to point out how many New Yorkers have relocated to TX?” The poinr I was making is that northerners are apparently very welcome.

You can have the pansies that can’t handle our weather. They will fit right in with you.

You keep saying how terrible it is in NY, but have no clue. If it was half as bad as you say, we would not be experiencing job and population growth at all. Are we lagging behind several states in job creation? Yes. But it is positive, so we must be doing something right.

This is an innocent opinion from obviously the outside looking in.

Help me understand why the Republicans want to stop everyone from having affordable health coverage. I see that they think that it will reduce their access to coverage. To me that’s wrong thinking. Selfish..isn’t this the “Christian” party? It seems to me that everyone does have a right to help with illness if that help is available, to withhold it over money is wrong. To try to spread the cost of that seems right. To say that we shouldn’t do what’s right due to a shortage of doctors seems wrong. Seems like we should do more to fix that problem then fighting access to healthcare..

I’m sure someone will lop my idealistic head off with my opinion, but after reading all of this I’m baffled as to why there is still an issue. I’m baffled that Republicans still want to take health care away from the sick and needy.

It just shows how ignorant you really are. I will pray that a fellow Christian will share the love of Christ with you to show you what love is really all about.

Sacrifce and servanthood. Are we perfect? Of course not. That is why we need a Savior to forgive us of our sins.

I draw a line with politicians and liars. When you combine the two (Obama,Quinn,JR, our old mayor, Biden and many more politicians) its just that much worse.

Here is a hint, when someone asks you to trust them, don’t. Something is a tad askew when someone has to asked to be trusted (Biden).

That’s how the world evolves and grows. We should never just accept the status quo without question. That’s apathetic, lazy, and quite frankly, really dumb.

He is also an idiot of the first magnitude. When I was young starting out, I gleaned as much knowledge as I could from experienced professionals in this industry. They knew what it took to succeed in business and I adopted much of what they taught me and expanded it as I went along with my own efforts.

They have not looked around or had a real conversation with someone not exactly like themselves – EVER! They don’t understand because they’re too lazy to investigate and open their eyes to the fact that the country and the world is no longer the way it was 40 or 50 years ago. It would seem to be common sense that things have changed in that amount of time, but they’re conservative.

Ins102 was also in on it along with Planet who has since disappeared. Both you and Ron have told me to shut up and you have no right to ever say that. We have freedom of expression in this country. All you have to do is say you disagree and we can agree to disagree. You are both so angry that your beliefs are so wrong and so mad the country turned red, you do tend to foam at the mouth. Before you call me a tired old white man, please do me the honor of looking at some of your leaders. RM – Try to forget the lies that the Dems and media are telling you.

First, the problem with Obamacare is what it is doing/has done to our Constitutional freedom. If the govt can mandate this, they can mandate us to purchase almost anything.

Second, healthcare should be available for everyone, and preferably, affordable. There were other ways to make healthcare affordable without the mandate. As you can see, healthcare is no more affordable than it was before, in fact, it is worse for many.

The difference is the subsidies that the govt is handing out. They could have done the same thing without the mandate.

Obamacare was a ruse for a Constitutional power grab. Obama won and we are left with the mess because they all lied to us.

Healthcare was/is already available to the poor. Unfortunately is was/is not affordable.

I don’t disagree, but that’s not the plan they came up with. If were up to me, healthcare would be available to all citizens for next to nothing. Unfortunately, they didn’t ask me to write the law.

Integrity, the poor already had Medicaid which is basically free and taxpayer supported. The enrollment sent several million more into Medicaid. The big problem with Medicaid is that doctors will not accept it since the re-imbursement is so low. I guess we need to import some more Indians and Pakistani doctors so they will accept it and work for a pittance.

Lib-How can you say that illegals don’t vote. In many states, you can register to vote when you get a driver license-motor voter-and also in many states, all you have to do to show id to get your driver license is a utility bill and “official” id which can be a state issued id card.
The only thing that makes voter fraud not so rampant is that many illegals simply don’t choose to vote. If they did, they would tip entire elections.

I’ve got some news for you Stan. Doctors don’t want Obamacare either. How about those $3,000 deductibles and $10,000 out of pocket expenses before it pays anything? How many middle class Americans can cough up that kind of money for treatment when they are living paycheck to paycheck? People will just stop going to the doctor when they get sick and then go to the Emergency Room in an emergency. I thought Obamacare would end the Emergency Room treatment Democrats railed about prior to passing the law.

The PPACA may not stop ER treatment, but Universal Health Care (UHC) would.

The Donald was on Letterman last night and seemed to support UHC. He mentioned how a friend of his went to the hospital in one of those evil countries, asked for a bill after treatment, and was told “no charge”. He also mentioned that one of the problems of our current system are greedy doctors and that they are making too much money. This coming from the ultimate capitalist.

I like leaders who take the advice of good advisors, listen to both sides before making decisions affecting America. Do you remember the famous Blair House meeting between Obama, Reid & Pelosi and the Republicans when they met on Healthcare reform? Republicans laid out many ideas to improve it. They were met with a cold stare and the President thanked them and said he would do it his way. Not one Republican idea was adopted into the finished product, no Tort Reform, no selling across state lines, nothing. That is not leadership, it is “My way only”. Get in the back of the bus Republicans. Gee, I wonder why this just hasn’t worked out to anyone’s satisfaction.

            Agent,

I know he released a couple years worth. That is why I specified 10 years.

You just don’t get it. People weren’t looking to begrudge his wealth, we wanted to see how he filed, what he claimed as deductions, etc to pay as little taxes as possible. If everything was on the up-and-up why did he not just release 10 years worth. If I remember correctly, he actually amended his 2011 taxes to reduce his charitable contribution soley because he stated his effective tax rate was over 14%. This came after he stated no one should pay more in taxes than required by law. There is some integrity for ya.

You are correct in stating, “Being wealthy means you don’t have to steal from average citizens and abscond with public funds” But it does not mean that you can’t or won’t.

I do agree with your statement, “I would like to see the list of who got the stimulus money that didn’t create any jobs and only feathered the nests of donors to the Democratic Party and Obama in particular.” That is the kind of diclosure i am looking for from our government.

You asking for a link – obtainable or not – knowing full that you will refuse to review ANY link that gets posted as a reply, is not “playing fair.”

If you ask for a link, you must be prepared to click it and review what was posted. That’s my only point here.

By the way, as long as we are auditing the Stimulus Funds, let’s audit the Fed as well. I want to see what their nefarious money printing schemes and exchanges with the Treasury Dept looks like. Option 1: You will NOT open any of our links

Option 2: You WILL open our links

Option 3: You will SELECTIVELY decide which links you want to open at will (thereby supporting your trolling efforts of requesting links then refusing to open and read them once they’re posted).

Option 1, 2 or 3? That’s all you need to say in your reply so we know how to frame our discussions going forward.

Make up your mind and be consistent.
        Which option fits you?

What about all of the promises that were made to get this passed? B.O. repeatedly said the Affordable Care Act would save the average family $2,500 a year. My premiums went up a lot this year. Thanks B.O.

Fortunately Bush’s energy polices have allowed for the development of our own natural resources over time and pushed the price of gas down to offset some of the increased costs passed through to average families because of the Affordable Care Act.

Hey Me, Texas gas keeps the Eastern seaboard warm in the winter via the extensive evil pipelines that have been there for many years. Now, if we can only get Keystone approved, create some jobs and increase our ability to rid ourselves from Shiek’s oil, we will be much better off. By the way, I heard an interview with Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV), who is leading a movement among his Democratic colleagues to vote for Keystone and override the President’s veto. I wish him well.

For the Keystone Pipeline, projections are for 2,500 – 6,000 temporary construction jobs over 2-years, then 35 permanent jobs. While that is good for those few, is it really going to have the significant impact on employment overall?

My wife disease is progressing so now I am doing the home repairs, cooking dinner half the time, doing between 2 – 4 loads of laundry every other day, home work with all three every day, cleaning the kitchen daily, staying on top of the mess associated with three kids running around daily, getting things buttoned down for the kids baptism as well as their religious education classes set, getting to the shrink weekly, oh and getting to see my parents at least once a week. My day starts at 06:30 and usually don’t see my bed till after 10:00pm.

What they need is drivers that understand that they cant just drive into awnings. Maybe they should pay more for better drivers, but it is state funded and we all know how state funded business have gone as of late. My nursing home and hospital is all out of force because the state isn’t paying and medicare is slow pay. No Professional / general/ comp/ D & O / property/ bond. Nothing. Lets see Libby, I have learned more in the past 24 months them most.
Medicare/ Medicaid systems. Home Foreclosure (both my parents house including the one I grew up in) The PPACA System twice. Diabetes. Degenerative Disc Disease. Fibromyalgia. ADA standards, Parkinson’s Disease. Stenosis. TIA’s. Strokes. Child custody issues. Alcoholism (not me). Elder abuse law.
I spend what little time researching things that directly touch my life. Keystone Pipe line will not.

When I do have free time, I like to spend it with my wife.

FFA, Keystone is about as bipartisan as it gets and 68% of the American people want it. Even the unions in the north want it so they can put people to work on it. Obama is still playing to his base, the idiot environmentalists, even after about 10 years of studying it and getting approval from the states it will go through. I suppose these idiots would like it better to send oil south by Buffet’s trains. One good derailment would spill several thousand barrels of crude onto the land and water. Pipelines are 10 times safer and cheaper as well.

I had to laugh last year that the pipeline running from Cushing, Ok down through Texas to the Gulf Coast was being constructed and one famous tree hugger, the actress Daryl Hannah and one of her tree hugging friends tried to block it and tried to lie down in front of the route. All they got for their trouble was a trip to jail to cool their heels. They let her out and she was on the next plane to LA. Haven’t seen her since. Has she made a movie since Kill Bill 2?

FFA, I have never seen a report that the Alaskan pipeline that has supplied millions of barrels of oil from the north slope to the ports in the south has ever had a spill and that is over far more difficult terrain than Keystone will be built in. By the way, I have seen many estimates that up to 40,000 construction jobs would be created and about 2,000 permanent jobs for maintenance. After all, it will go through several states.

There was a broken pipe line in MI a few years back that was repaired quickly. That’s the only one in my recent memory that had an issue.

I would agree that the Employment numbers are extremely low. When they cut the pipe line through IL out in DeKalb, there were plenty of Construction workers from many different trades working – mostly Machine Operators. The amount of money the injected into the local economy was a nice boost in business for the local merchants.
Besides, the train cars – recent news reports – are in a state of dis repair and will take big bucks to get them to current standards.

“Since 1990, more than 110 million gallons of mostly crude and petroleum products have spilled from the nation’s mainland pipeline network. More than half of it occurred in three states — Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana — where more pipelines exist.”

“Contrary to the myth, Keystone would contribute little to U.S. energy independence. The oil is headed to Texas ports for a reason — to be shipped overseas.”

“From the ground to the pipe to the refineries, Keystone’s tar sands oil, with its thick, dirty, corrosive properties, pose a far greater hazard than conventional oil — a major reason for National Nurses United and nurse opposition.”

“Mounds of Petcoke, the carbon residue of tar sands refining, piled up for export for burning, have produced toxic dust storms that have left area residents gasping near Detroit, Chicago, and other locales.”

“Toxic contaminants in the massive water needed for extraction are infecting clean water supplies with towns nearby Alberta experiencing spikes in cancer deaths, renal failure, lupus, and hyperthyroidism. Huge pipeline spills near Marshall, Mi. and Mayflower, Ar. have led to respiratory ailments and other health ills. Pollutants from tar sands refineries are linked to heart and lung disease, asthma, and cancer.”

“The more people learn about the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline, the less they like it,” says actor/environmentalist Redford. “Tar sands crude means a dirtier, more dangerous future for our children all so that the oil industry can reach the higher prices of overseas markets. This dirty energy project is all risk and no reward for the American people.”

Are 35 jobs worth hundreds of illnesses and deaths?

FFA, it is hard to get a word in edgewise with the diatribe from Libby and others with no reply buttons. Per Google, Transcontinental the contractor and the State Dept both agreed that 42,100 jobs would be created building the pipeline. Surely Libby would believe the State Dept since that is the government talking. So the permanent jobs will be less. I have to believe it is more than 35. This pipeline will stretch 1,100+ miles. By the way, I think the Alaska Pipeline has done the country a lot of good over the years.

No Libby, the impeachment was not about underage girls having sex with the President. It was about lying to a Federal Grand Jury about his affair with a young intern. The current events on underage girls will be brought out further as more investigation is done. The last time I checked, sex with underage girls was called Statutory Rape. All they need is to go into Epstein’s computer and also perhaps some tapes were made. Wouldn’t that be something?

Even FoxNews doesn’t connect Clinton to having sex with underage girls, only being Epstein’s friend and breaking the friendship once he learned of his activities.

Read it and weep and then shut the hell up about it. Yes. I said it. Shut up. You’re spreading lies and I won’t stand for it.

Stan, Agent wife and my wife have many of the same health issues. I can understand his dis like for the PPACA.

Hope you never experience any of them.

Fair enough. If anything, I wish you all had universal healthcare so you could get the treatments you need without respect to ability to pay.

If Universal Health Care is anything like Medicare / Medicaid, I am DEAD SET AGAINST IT. The PPACA is a better option. The best option would have been to not shove this pile of crap down our throats.

This is personal experience of which I have had way too much of over the past 2 – 3 years.

Stan, you are an embarrassment for the Millenial generation of entitlements and bad behavior. Libby doesn’t have any excuses, she is just old and nasty and part of the low information voter crowd.

I told FFA I hoped he could get the care he needed and I am an embarrassment? Youre such a loser, Agent.

Of course you’ve never strayed! Who’d take a second look at you besides her? She’s got to be deaf and blind or the stupidest woman on earth!

Good comment Libby. You remain the champion of nasty behavior. I can certainly see why your husband cheated on you.

And his cheating says more about his character than it does about mine. Your comment, though, is a dead giveaway of your lack thereof.

Stan, you need to sign up for the first two years of free Community College education that Obama wants to put in at a cost of $60 Billion to the taxpayers. We don’t have enough debt piled up yet. Just think, you can get a whole ten years of education on your resume’. Perhaps you can then find a decent job if you major in something employers want.

Believe me, if I could go back to school and have it actually pay off, I would do it. School was the last thing I tried that I excelled at, minus making fun of you on here of course.

Stan, I have met many Professional Students in my life. They stay in school as long as possible because they are afraid to face the realities of the world and get a job to make a living. Often, they pick majors that businesses don’t have a need for. Why didn’t your majors click in the real world? Maybe it is because the state you live in is one of the states not creating opportunity for job creation. Ever think of that?
