    The companies such as Uber and Lyft need to require certificates and this system needs to be done electronically so that the companies will know on demand if a policy is cancelled. I would have thought this is already in place, perhaps not.

    Answering the question, “No and I don’t plan on getting one” doesn’t necessarily mean that they wouldn’t pay a little extra for the endorsement, it just means that they don’t have specific plans to get it currently.

    Certificates for auto insurance are even more worthless than the typical commercial lines certificate given the significant differences in auto insurance policies. And a certificate provides for no notice of cancellation.

    When Uber & Lyft are finally regulated like the taxi companies they are we will see them go away or lose their competitive advantage. Using their service is like using an unlicensed contractor for a remodel at your home; everything is ok – right up until something goes wrong.

    Unregulated companies are always less expensive, they aren’t playing by the same rules. And no, I don’t have a dog in this fight. I really don’t care, I just find it amusing that they insist that they are tech companies.
