How long have we had railroads in this country? How long will it take to make the rails safer? What do they want, 2050?

There should be no extensions to the time unless Amtrak puts a second Engineer on all trains riding a non-compliant route — as an “interim safety measure”. I lost a dear friend, Laura Finamore, in the May 2015 high-speed derailment crash. If the routes are still unsafe — SHUT THEM DOWN until they are compliant !!

Sorry for your loss Pat. Amtrak has been a joke for a long time and a very big expense to the taxpayer. If it weren’t for the N/E corridor, they would have been gone a long time ago.
