Everest Re Adds Inland Marine Unit to U.S. Specialty Platform

Everest Re Group, Ltd., has expanded its U.S. specialty insurance platform, Everest National Insurance Co., with the introduction of a new dedicated Inland Marine underwriting team. Everest National is pursuing a broad and comprehensive strategy in the implementation of its inland marine initiative, underwriting both individual risks as well as select inland marine programs. This business will be underwritten across the U.S. through underwriting teams located within its key branch locations.

Mike Warfield has been named to lead this new unit. Warfield been with Everest since 2013, previously overseeing the marketing, distribution and business development area for Everest National. Prior to joining Everest National, Warfield was President of Colony Insurance Co. He is joined by Matt Bisig, vice president and underwriting leader, who previously worked for CNA Insurance Company as the inland marine manager for the Central and Southeastern region.

Earlier this year, Everest National hired Tom Morelli to develop and lead the energy casualty group and Connie Germano to lead the specialty casualty platform in the U.S. These moves continue to extend Everest’s specialty property and casualty offering in the U.S. as part of the overall group strategy to grow and diversify its insurance operation.
