People on a salary are defined as “exempt employees” and aren’t legally entitled to overtime or time-and-a-half. Exempt employees exist in every industry too, not just insurance.
I believe the increase in claims to be due to the increasing control companies want to place over their “Independent contractors”. As this attorney states here: http://www.sattirajulawfirm.com/important-decision-for-uber-drivers/ Uber has been exerting more and more control over their drivers who they classify as “independent contractors” doing this makes them employees as a company can not dictate how an independent contractor preforms its work.
I wonder why they don’t go after Insurance companies for making salaried employees work 50-60 hours per week for a 40 hour work week.
