Ronald Paltrowitz, a lawyer for the plaintiffs, said any funds would go toward groups that the plaintiffs sponsor to boost minority participation in motorsports.

They are going to sue to get the money needed to run the teams??? You can’t make this stuff up. And no I don’t watch NASCAR.

Race card extortion. That’s all this is and I hope that NASCAR has the stones to stick to their guns and not cave to the pressure. If this group is qualified and they go through the same processes and vetting as other teams, then I hope they are selected to join. I’m sure this will open up basketball and football for white people.

An organization like NASCAR has every reason in the world to want to diversify and add African/Americans to the current millions of fans, so I am pretty sure that whatever their reasons are for not including Diversity Motorsports Racing it doesn’t have one single thing to do with race. Maybe DMR is hoping that Obama will issue another of his executive orders and force NASCAR’s hand.

Maybe I should sue the NAACP, and Miss Black America Pageant and the BET awards and Black History Month and the Black Panthers for racial discrimination. Good luck with that.

I am not a NASCAR or racing fan either. I find it boring, and I am not a fan of country music which I think is a favorite of car racing fans and played at the events.
Perhaps there aren’t many blacks racing or owning racing teams because they are not interested as well? Has anyone done a study on the race of fans attending the Daytona 500? If 50,000 attend the race, and 500 are non-Caucasian, well then maybe they are properly represented.
The lawsuit is frivolous and should be treated as such.

First, let’s not race to judgment (no pun intended). I agree with JAX that they should be allowed if they go through the qualifications that other teams have to adhere to. If there is evidence that they are discriminating, they should be held accountable. I also agree that NASCAR would be foolish from a revenue standpoint to purposely try to discriminate against minorities.

All that said, I am going to predict that the court of public opinion, including some liberal states, are going to force this issue and prevent NASCAR to hold events in their state unless they implement an Affirmative Action type program to mandate minorities have representation.

If the NCAA can strip NC from holding any tournaments because of the transgender BS, this will not be far behind.

NASCAR has some high standards and for the drivers NASCAR can’t lower the standards or people will get killed. First there has to be drivers interested, then they have to go through training and go through the small race tracks to build experience, safety is critical and drivers have to prove that they are professionals. The owners need $$$$ – lots of it. Sponsorship is absolutely necessary. So if you don’t have quality drivers and you don’t have sponsors – NASCAR is not going to let just any team in. NASCAR wants to build up the fan base, I can’t believe that they are going to exclude any opportunity to do so.
