CNA has named Steve Hernandez as senior vice president, Commercial Risk Control.
Hernandez succeeds Bill Boyd who announced his retirement earlier this year after 12 years of service at CNA and a 38-year career in the insurance industry.
In his new role, Hernandez will be responsible for the strategic direction and leadership of the Commercial Risk Control function, including developing risk control products and services that align with CNA’s underwriting strategies for various product lines and customer segments.
He will be based in Chicago and will report to Kevin Leidwinger, president and chief operating officer, CNA Commercial.
Hernandez joins CNA with more than 26 years of global property/casualty experience. Most recently, he served as senior vice president of Global Risk Engineering for Chubb. He started at Chubb in 1989 as a loss control representative and was promoted to various loss control management positions during is career there. He also served on the company’s Diversity, Senior Manager Roundtables, where he was a moderator and presenter for numerous diversity and employee resource group sessions.
