There is one city in Connecticut that is giving tickets to distracted walkers who are so brain dead, they walk right out into traffic. No wonder the pedestrian deaths are on the rise.

If only someone could install a sensor on a cellphone being used by a pedestrian, so as to detect a car with a radio transmitter embedded in it as the pedestrian is getting (too) close to the auto.

Not sure that would do much good Polar. The truly distracted know nothing about what is going on around them. Too busy playing social media games or downloading the latest app.

I can’t help but imagine the criticisms your parents and grandparents levied upon your generation for living a totally different lifestyle, due to technology and innovation, than they.

They need to make tougher laws against Drunk-Drivers. Also, I would use big billboards on roads to post messages like: “slow down, moron, it’s not everyone else’s fault you’re late!”, or “next time wake up earlier. Quit speeding!!”, or “•Speeding-related deaths (10,111 fatalities). Do you want to be next?”. I know these messages sound crude, but I think our society has become numb to many thing. We need a RUDE AWAKENING.

I wonder if distracted driving fatalities are really down or have they been reported less? Knowing it is now an offense that can be ticketed and probably get you sued I am thinking many people deny being distracted if they cause an accident where someone died. I see more and more drivers with that phone in their face not less. Just seems odd considering how many people I see daily with that phone front and center while driving.
