This company does what some non-profit, industry organizations have been doing, but perhaps not effectively, for years.
I think the main problem is not knowledge of the coverage, but the ignorance of the risks involved in the perils; i.e. “it happens elsewhere, so it won’t happen here / to me, so why worry? and why buy insurances?”.
Clearsurance stepped in to fill a void due to ineffective non-profits and financial institutions. But there needs to be a source of motivation to insure beyond that level required by banks who lend to homeowners. For example, town administrators could include literature on the perils, and information about insurance coverage, in their cyclical property re-valuations and/ or budget publications online or via US mail. Including case examples of individuals who lost property to those perils who were uninsured would drive home the point of adequately insuring all exposures.
