One of the precepts of writing an article is making the subject topic clear and meaningful. I read the first link and found no definition of the stats used for the index to the average value. I HOPE that I can later locate the definition of ‘move’ (paraphrased) to try to learn SOMETHING from this article.
One point that wasn’t clear, but which was mentioned indirectly / implied is there are multiple reasons for a ‘move’; e.g. new job in a new town or a new state, relocation to retire, relocation to exit a highly taxed state.
The flaw in this index is the short term nature of the ‘move’ stat; i.e. they use ‘in the next few months’ as if it were meaningful. I must assume they used ‘in the next few months’ because that is a constraint imposed by the source of their data. I challenge anyone to defend a stat based on ‘housing’ and / or ‘economic conditions’ over a short future horizon, for population shifts into/ out of a geo zone. In the opinion of someone slightly smarter than the average bear, it’s only a moderately informative measure.
Gro, I have been reading articles for the last 8 years about citizens moving out of the N/E blue heavily taxed and high cost of living states to the more favorable less taxed, less regulated and less expensive south and mid west states. This may be called fly over country if it is not on the East or Left coast, but it is ever so much better than living in cry baby sore loser states.
