Correct me if my geographic knowledge is wrong, but nearly all of the Connecticut shoreline is protected from monster waves from tsunamis out in the Atlantic by Long Island.
‘Fake alarms’ should be expanded to include Fake Global Warming Alarms by GW Hoaxers. The latter is a major contributor to the lack of confidence by the public in sources of Fake News.
Long Island Sound is an estuary of the Atlantic Ocean. Estuaries are subject to marine influences (tides & waves) and influences from rivers. To say Southern CT is “protected from monster waves” is incorrect since estuaries are definitely subjected to ocean waves & tides.
I just looked at a map. I’m correct. LI would block nearly all incoming tsunami waves from reaching the CT shore. Not surprisingly, CT alarm ringers have a ‘Fake News’ version of a tsunami alarm.
“LI would block nearly all incoming tsunami waves….” Uhh….actually, no – it wouldn’t, but hey, don’t take my word for it … … … do a little research on “estuaries and marine influences on estuaries” before you post on this topic again please.
Polar, I also pulled up the map and you are 100% correct. Long Island does block access to Connecticut from Tsunami’s. Poor little Rosenblatt, mired in Progressive dogma and totally incorrect.
Am I the only one who knows about estuaries? Here. Let me help you two since neither of you want to put that term into google and learn something new.
Long Island Sound is a tidal estuary of the Atlantic Ocean, lying between the eastern shores of Bronx County, New York City, southern Westchester County, and Connecticut to the north, and the North Shore of Long Island, to the south.
An estuary is a partially enclosed coastal body of brackish water with one or more rivers or streams flowing into it, and with a free connection to the open sea.
Estuaries form a transition zone between river environments and maritime environments. They are subject both to marine influences—such as tides, waves, and the influx of saline water—and to riverine influences—such as flows of fresh water and sediment.
Rosenblatt, the last time I checked, Tsunami’s don’t originate in estuaries and yes, land (Long Island) does block Tsunami’s from the nearby mainland. Try using a bit of common sense. I know that is hard for you. Polar is 100% correct.

I know tsunami’s don’t ORIGINATE in estuaries. Who argued that?! Not me! As for the rest of your post, clearly you have no interest in advancing your knowledge on this topic and that’s your prerogative. Just know that doesn’t make you right — it just makes you ignorant.

History has shown that tsunamis can hit estuaries with devastating force if conditions are correct.
There was a Tsunami on the Delaware Estuary in 1817, for example.
But, hey, maybe people with no science background and a general disdain for advanced education would know better.

Since when is an island an estuary? Long Island extends 118 miles in length and 23 miles wide. Effective barrier against Tsunami’s threathening both NY and Connecticut. By the way, the land area is the same size in sq miles as your little state of Rhode Island. You are full of it.
Good one Jack. Poor Rosenblatt has nothing. He is in his own little world of Fake News. WARNING! Global Warming will melt all the North Pole and South Pole and we will be consumed by giant Tidal waves on a regular basis. Everything is man’s fault, even the Solar Flares. Everyone should have an autonomous car since they will dominate the roadways. Never mind that it will take 20 more years and never mind the obvious problems with their sensor’s failing.
Let’s stay on topic. You are rambling like my Grandpa talking about the Great War again, when the story started off about the time you went into town to buy something with an onion in your belt, which was the style at the time.
Why would anyone want to participate in these comment sections when every comment goes IMMEDIATELY political and combative from the very start.
Kudos to Rosenblatt for making sensible, fact-based arguments and Jack Kanauph for a lighthearted and clever joke.
CtB – did that story take place in 19-dickety-two, and we had to say “dickety” cause that Kaiser had stolen the word “twenty”, and then Grandpa chased that rascal to get it back, but he gave up after dickety-six miles? I **LOVE** that story/reference!! :)

you are wrong

Polar,
Stop using global warming. Again this is an outdated term. Climate change is happening in our world and is not a hoax.
I agree that they need to update the system. The other day I got an alert stating “The British are Coming”.

Kudos for Polar pointing out the error of Rosenblatt’s word parsing errors.
Give me 5 bees for a quarter, you’d say.
Give me just a bit of common sense. That is impossible for a Progressive who is mired in their “fake” dogma.
