So Equifax sends a credit alert to us this morning…I call Equifax because the alert has insufficient information to know if this is of concern…Im transferred to another Equifax number and the agent there starts asking for personal information…SSN etc… I then ask and find out that this agent isnt even located in the USA! So Im to give my info to someone in a foreign country? Also, why didnt equifax protect our information by encrypting it when stored?
Sooo there are only 320MM Americans. Can we not just assume now everyone’s SSN is in the wild and it is no longer a good way to confirm someone’s identity

But by all means, Justice Department, don’t look into this matter anymore…
