I worked at an agency where the owner was openly carrying on an affair with a department heard – everyone knew about it — probably even his wife. About two weeks after I started, I attended a business dinner where the branch managers were relating the most racist, misogynist, disgusting jokes you could ever imagine. The apple does not fall far from the tree.

Many years ago, I saw a Producer get into a relationship with an attractive CSR. The Producer told me that they would go to another town to carry on the affair. She would call in sick and he would be making calls on clients and we knew what they were really doing. Well, it didn’t end well when it came out and both lost their jobs.

Attraction will happen, people will be human emotionally; and sometimes God puts two people into the same work environment to find each other. A careful policy is warranted but not a ban.

Most relationships should not be compared to Weinstein’s – most of what he did was while married and that was crossing a line on his part; certainly anyone compromised by him knew that he was stepping way over just by secluding himself with her.

When two married people are in the same work environment and start an affair, that is called cheating, plain and simple. Usually ends in divorce by one or both. That is not the employers fault either, but a moral weakness on the part of the participants.
