Tort reform, which is too complex to discuss here and today, is a key step to improving the health care industry and the cost of health insurance. The issue is addressed in HEALTH CARE SPPECIFICCS as the last two letters; CS = Cost Savings (efforts).
Polar, after a concerted effort for several years, Texas passed Tort Reform with limitations on awards etc. The rates for Med Mal went way down and doctors have flocked to the state. The liberal N/E and the Left Coast who have no limitations have the highest rates for good reason.
I assume the ‘good reason’ is only the opinion of lawyers who sue docs.
Med Mal insurance costs are passed back to patients by medical service providers. I had a debate with someone on IJ months ago who said that it was a small portion of the COST of medical treatment. That misses the point that it is a LARGE cost to doctors, nurses, PTs, and hospitals. Hence, the supply of those medical service providers would be increased with lower med mal insurance premiums. Greater competition will drive down some costs of medical services.
Tort reform is a difficult thing to do, due to politicians being funded by ATLA and other such legal/ attorney organizations which want to preserve the current tort system, with no caps and limits on awards or legal fees. What does the American public want?; unrestricted med mal tort awards or affordable health care insurance? We’ll see the answers at the polls on and after November, 2018.
Tort reform is also so difficult because many politicians are trial lawyers. I’m all for tort reform as it would fix some of the root causes of health care costs, rather than just treating the symptoms. (Like a good doctor would tell you, both literally and figuratively!)
The difference is in pointing out the Dems preference for large donors over US citizens’ health, welfare, and wealth accumulated from hard work. It’s also showing their preference for THEIR wealth accumulation.

Try very hard to stick to the subject in your initial replies instead of veering hard off course to an off topic comment. I thank you, and IJ staff will allow you to continue to post if you follow those simple guidelines.
Confused, I see that you and your comrade have been puffing a little too much weed and you are Scromiting all over this site.

Trolls are people who have nothing to add to discussions, but who intervene for the sake of disruption to seek reactions, or personal attacks on those whose opinions contrast with their own.

And as we all know, tort reform was a big part of Obamacare in efforts to reduce overall medical costs. NOT!

As Dr. Howard Dean so eloquently states, the Democratic Party is in the back pocket of the trial lawyers.
A liberal would say, at this point, what difference does it make?

Well, it is a good thing Conservatives check mated the Left on 11-8-16. I can’t imagine how bad it would have gotten had the other side won.
