I have lived on the beach in Florida since 1983. Every morning I look out my back window at the ocean. I can tell you with absolute certainty that there has been no sea level rise, and the ocean temperatures have actually dropped where I live.

That’s great news for you, David. How about the other 1,345 miles of FL coastline?

Well on the SW coast of FL the sea level isn’t rising either. There is erosion in some places and beach deposits in others but none of that is due to any “warming” of the climate, of which there has been very, very little.

In fact if one uses the proxy temperature records (going back thousands of years) or actual thermometer record (hundreds of years) there has been no man-made warming at all. In fact, those records show a slight cooling as CO2 levels have increased.

One has to adjust those records and splice them onto the satellite records, again with adjustments, to create a data set that shows warming coinciding with CO2 increases. (the satellite record only going back to 1979 of course is far too short to make any judgments from, especially noting that the thermometer record shows the late 70’s and early 80s were very cold.)

So the oceans are rising at about the same rate they have been since the end of the last ice age. We should all panic.

David, don’t know if this is a Fake News article or not, but it did come from Bloomberg so that should tell you something. Every night when I watch the weather, the guy gives the highs, lows and the records going back in measurable time. The weather was much warmer back in the 30’s & 40’s and much cooler since. To listen to these dudes, it has warmed up a lot in the last few years. Total nonsense, Miami has not flooded nor has NYC or any other city on the ocean.

Climate Change doesn’t work like that. The fact that you see it is cooler now is one evidence that climate change is happening. If you are alive by 2050, you should start seeing some early signs of sea level rising. Also global warming doesn’t mean every place on earth warms up! It means some areas will be much warmer that make more ice lands to melt and causing sea levels to rise. Unfortunately, if coastal areas go underwater, the higher elevation homes near those areas aren’t safe either. The amount of pollution and other infrastructure damage that such catastrophe brings to the table would be beyond imagination. It’s naïve that some people think if they buy in a slightly higher elevation, they would be safe.

FEMA IS TAKING PROPERTIES OUT OF VE ZONES AND PUTTING THEM IN AE ZONES!!!!!!!

It’s actually helping the real estate market here in coastal SC. But don’t let the facts get in the way of your leftist agenda pushing articles IJ.

Many of the homes I have insured from Ft Lauderdale to Virginia have been taken out of the A zone and put into X and these are home right on the Ocean. Now go figure….

      Agent,
I highly disagree with you. A post is taken down due to many other reasons. You have criticized Andrew many times here without it being taken down. If anything more people from the left have posts taken down while your posts are hidden more than removed due to the communities feelings toward your comments

Another condescending, holier-than-thou recital of solemn fake news.

Hey, go ahead and listen to all the arguments from supposed scientists. And then realize that all they can produce are flawed computer models that never quite work out. And is it any wonder when they’re counting tree rings on a stump in Siberia and pretending to know the temperature on a particular day and place in 1530?

The climate changes. Get over it.

I own in SW FL on the gulf and I’m hoping there are enough dopes is SW FL that when I sell I’m still going to get top dollar. Once Irma fades from memories the prices will rebound a bit, more baby boomers willing to pay the weather dividend and I’m gone. I’ll miss happy hour heaven, but I’ll be gone before the real crap hits the fan.
