I’ve always been of the mind that brands are single-minded but companies are not. I assume when they say that they are “retiring the two unit brands into an integrated global operating committee” without giving any sort of brand association, that this “committee” will fall under the global “Aon” brand whose single-minded attribute is that of a global insurance retail broker. Sure they do other things (Benfield is known for facultative reinsurance brokering) but it seems like Aon is simply going departmental by product type versus business unit. It’s like Proctor & Gamble changing Tide to detergents.

So Aon is now one with itself. Kinda reminds me of….The Borg

We are the Borg. Lower your shields and surrender your ships. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile.

We are the takeover company. Abandon your branding and surrender your assets. We will add your client base to our own. Your corporate culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile.
