We had an indicate last fall in our district where a student threatened, during the school day, to show up at a high school football game that evening, with a gun, to kill people. I along with some other parents who were aware of the threats (kids showed me social media posts from the student making the threat) had contacted the high school principal. I was told by the principal that they had addressed the problem with the student and his family. Needless to say that the student showed up at the game with his parents (no weapon) and was allowed in. I called the police department’s non-emergency number when I saw them at the game and they did not know anything out the threats. As far as I’m aware there was no discipline by the school to the child. Guessing that because ours is a small community (less than 10,000 people) it was easier to cover it up.

Some details are missing from your story.

Was there a hack into the social media account where the threat was posted?
Which kids showed you the subject social media posts?
Did you ask how the problem was resolved? If so, who did you ask?

Security Resource Officers can prevent school shootings by outsiders as well as by students.
They can also provide guidance and counseling of ALL students, to help kids stay away from bad influences and bad activities. Can anyone give any reason for schools to NOT hire at least one school security resource officer?
