Catholic church has got to the most corrupt system in the world. All their pedophiles, rapists, etc. should have been arrested and not protected by this filthy organization that thinks their leader is God on earth.

Perplexed, no surprise that the Catholic Church is losing parishioners in droves. What parent would ever let their young son be an alter boy with this track record?

        Altar, not alter.

I was an altar boy and found all the priests and nuns I was taught by or dealt with were generally religious and holy people, and tried to act as Jesus’ representative on earth. I do feel very sorry for any students or children abused. I have watched that movie about the Boston diocese and it is disturbing.

My aunt attended a Methodist church back in the depression with the rest of the family (she was a teenager at the time). After a church event, the pastor, a married man with 4 kids, offered to give her a ride home, only a mile down the road. To put it mildly, she said it was one of the longest short car rides ever, she had to slide over to the right of the car as far as she could and try and keep his hands at bay! I don’t know if she ever told Grandma.

This deal with the Boy Scouts is one I never saw coming.

your ignorance of Catholicism is absolutely astounding. They do NOT believe “their leader is God on earth.” I know plenty of Catholics who are completely disgusted by the handling of the pedophilia scandal, but instead of leaving the church they are doing what they can to make sure things like this do not happen again. The problem is not solely with the Catholic church but in organized religions and other institutions such as the Southern Baptists, Boy Scouts, and certain universities that attempt to handle such crimes internally rather than report them to the proper law enforcement agencies.

Somehow, I am guessing Epstein and all his pedophile buddies weren’t Catholic. And I am guessing the constituency for on-line child pornography and global child sex rings includes a large majority who aren’t Catholic.

But bashing the church is what the media loves.

      Dear Craig,

As a survivor of Catholic school abuse in Australia and being involved over the last 24 years in legal negotiations (on and off, I needed a rest)…at times my mind would run the fantasy that maybe, maybe, the media bashing of the Catholic Church was exaggerated. I really wanted to believe I was misguided. Sadly, I was not. In fact, reports of incidences are squashed. When I found out that almost 70% of reports to the Australian Royal Commission’s inquiry were carried out in Catholic run institutions. My heart sank. But, if you are interested, and you have the time, get curious, research. Find out for yourself. Best to you.

It would be nice to see some investigations into the sexual abuse of America’s children at the hands of our public school adminstrators, teachers and other employees. The number of cases in the public school system is grossly higher than it ever was in any church regardless of the denomination. Why the whitewash in this case, especially when it is still ongoing?
