The Center for Justice and Democracy is not a ‘consumer’ group. It is a front for the trial lawyers, pure and simple. It hides the true nature of who donates to it but I can guarantee you it is nearly 100% funded by personal injury lawyers. It hides inside a prominent law school but if you look at the FAQ’s on their website, it is 100% pro trial lawyer. It in no way is solely supported by consumers. When consumers are harmed because they have to pay more for goods and services because of the flood of frivolous lawsuits that exist today, then you can’t call that group a ‘consumer group.’ It’s a group that advocates using consumers to help enrich personal injury lawyers at the expense of everybody else.

Excellent points, Mark. But this is Insurance Journal. What did you expect, careful accurate journalism?
