I have an interest in seeing the accounting for costs associated with the development of these drugs. In this case, I am yet unsure of the history of the drug discussed in the article.

When a drug succeeds in the market, whether due to demand increases for a specific purpose, or increased uses/ applications/ indications for it, companies will often increase their prices as a means of subsidizing the costs of other drugs which were not recouped, or which are in development. The public doesn’t understand the internal subsidies of one drug to another by the same manufacturer that are often necessary to continue research and development of necessary drugs (vs. convenience drugs).

Why is your first instinct to side with the multi billion dollar company instead of the people? This company makes a product for people, not vice versa. There is no real answer aside from greed. The profit margins of these companies take away any shred of “recouping costs” being the reason, it is greed pure and simple, justified by people like you without a shred of empathy or compassion.
