I’m sorry, any NFL guy who can’t handle unwanted female attention is a loser in my book. Harassement and hostility as generally defined requires the harassing party to have some advantage and power over the recipient. That just doesn’t exist in this case so United should politely tell him to shove it. Or better yet, let the case go to court and embarrass this joker in the public domain so all his NFL buddies can see what a weak and pathetic fool he is. He was greatly annoyed for sure, but not “harassed”.
This is still victim blaming. The woman was drunk and wouldn’t leave him alone. Just because he was an NFL player doesn’t mean he doesn’t deserve his own space.
I don’t know where you’re getting your definition of harassment, but your HR department needs to update their course. A person who doesn’t even work with the company like a UPS delivery driver can still harass someone at your agency. There’s no power dynamic required.
You’re projecting onto him because he couldn’t “handle” this kind of attention. In reality, no one should have to “handle” a drunk person harassing them, especially in an enclosed place like a plane.
Remember power is not always physical, but can be mental also. He knew that if he did anything physical to stop this woman from touching him this story would have gone a whole different direction. If the roles were reversed you would have said how terrible he was and should be thrown in jail. He did the right thing in expecting the airline to control this woman. She knew better and being intoxicated is only an excuse. If she was that intoxicated she should not have been allowed to board the plane. As an adult she is responsible for her own actions as he is his. So tell us Tiger88, how would you have handled it?
Tiger88, are you suggesting he should have hurt her? That would not have ended well for him. It seems like he did everything he could to divert her pathetic overtures/abuse, whatever you want to call it.
Her power is the fact she is a white woman and they were African American males, most likely very physically fit. Had they spoke overly harsh to her or touched her in any way shape or form SHE most likely would’ve cried sexual harassment/assault and those men would’ve been arrested and going through some legal issues now.
The woman should have been met by US Marshall’s when the plane landed. There is no excuse for this. If it had been a man behaving that way with a woman, he would have been arrested when they landed.
Listen closely: over the din of the politically correct defenders of anyone claiming victim status in 2020, you can hear about 15,000. NFL alumni laughing their butts off . . .
As the old joke goes: “Please, stop, please, stop, please, stop.” This NFL player couldn’t stop a woman from molesting him? Say WHAT?
Craig — so if the NFL player grabbed her hand/wrist to stop her, due to size difference, he would come out the “bad” guy. Flight attendant should have done something to move the drunk. If she still acted up, then arrange for her arrest at the destination.
Any man with half a brain knows how to physically control a woman without hurting her by grabbing her shoulders and pushing her away.
There were what, about 15 witnesses? If this story is accurate, I doubt any single one of them would make him out to be a bad guy for getting the drunk woman away from him. Hell, he could have just walked down the aisle for a time.
(Maybe he can bring a class action lawsuit. I’m sure the other passengers were just as traumatized.)
LOL you insult with the “any man with half a brain…” and then describe a situation in which you physically control a woman as if that’s the right move. Craig, I would ask you to PLEASE pull this move and see how quickly you’re arrested except the idea of a woman harassing you just made me laugh so hard I spit out my drink.
The fact that this was brought to a lawsuit does seem silly to me, but you idiots on the right that have a problem with ANYONE feeling harassed are way off base on this one, like most things. You’re not allowed to “physicall control” anyone, idiot, that’s generally viewed as assault.
Well, idiot, when someone is ASSAULTING you, you are most definitely allowed to physically control the person assaulting you. The amount of physical control depends on the nature of the assault.
I did not say he should punch her or shoot her. I said grab her and move her away.
That is a well established principal in law going back decades, idiot.
The article specifically says the man was black and the woman was white. You’re really stupid enough to believe that if a white woman harassing a black man is physically removed by the black man, that he’s not going to be arrested? I would expect this kind of racial stupidity from you, but let me explain.
If he had “physically controlled” her, he would have been arrested. That’s how things work in this country, for literally decades. You’re a bigger fool than I thought if you really think he could have “physically controlled” her. You can keep pretending you know what you’re talking about, but as usual, dishonesty and idiocy is all you have to offer, Craig.

I know I called you an idiot, you are an idiot, I just wanted to expand that I think you and all your republican cohorts are idiots too.
I ignored it because it’s asinine. He paid how much for his flight? He should be allowed to sit in his seat. The airline actually DID mess up here, but as usual you want to blame the victim regardless of the situation. Possibly because you want all victims blamed, because god forbid someone says something about you, right? How many people are out there that you think “should have just walked away” if they didn’t like what you were doing, Craig?
Keep em coming, pathetic old republican snowflake.
“You’re really stupid enough to believe that if a white woman harassing a black man is physically removed by the black man, that he’s not going to be arrested?”
The vast majority of police officers would not, no, and less than 1% of the time a man would be arrested for being black.
You’re the one foolish enough to believe black men are being targeted. They aren’t. Studies have even shown that when aiming for practice, police officers hesitate if the target is black, it is built in at this point that the vast majority of them are worried about or are very conscious about racial issues, not even to say in a bad way. They want to be very conscious of unconscious bias.
He would not have been arrested for being black, and you’re the foolish one thinking that.
My article is not and contends that it doesn’t address racial disparities by police.
Once again, you post BS to try and win an argument that ignores common sense.

Craig and Bob sure are white. It shows, and not in a good way.

From bob’s WAPO article: “The results come from a laboratory project at Washington State University using highly realistic police simulators, in which actors in various scenarios approach and respond to officers on large, high-definition video screens in an attempt to recreate critical situations on the street.”
You’re trying to prove your argument using data from SIMULATORS WITH ACTORS and NOT DATA FROM ACTUAL POLICE CASES.

I remember that from him whining about a workplace harassment article a few months. Of course Craig thinks it should be totally fine to “compliment” a woman in the workplace and that Me Too is more damaging than it’s worth. Of COURSE he believes these things.
When I was in high school in the early and mid 90’s, there was a few girls who liked to rub the butts and grab the private areas of the “nerdy” guys (yep, I was one of ’em) as we;d walk by, or if we accidentally walked in front of them. It was EXTREMELY humiliating, but what could I do? It was too embarrassing to tell someone in higher authority,, and obviously physically fighting back was not even close to an option.
The best part of this is how people want the government to be involved in absolutely EVERY human interaction.
Allowing people to work out their differences like independent, intelligent adults without having to run to Mommy Government over every little thing? How Old Fashioned!
People wanting to not be harassed when they’re in an enclosed space, how dare they!
It’s not about government interference and you know it, it’s about whether or not any person has the right to not be harassed. Your side would prefer harassment weren’t something you could be brought to court for, and we all know why.

Like for example, this WAPO piece.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/true-crime/wp/2016/04/27/this-study-found-race-matters-in-police-shootings-but-the-results-may-surprise-you/
If black men were being rounded up and arrested and or shot, there would be far more instances on the media.
This is tiresome. Stop bringing race into things in which race is not part of it.

This has now officially become the dumbest social media thread on the whole internet.
Flight attendant should have flagged her for faskmasking and moved her 15 yards back in the plane.
