Symbolism over substance. How about shining a light on the one-size-fits all and command & control approach by the govt (mainly Democrats) that has resulted in many businesses closing down for no good reason, not just restaurants?

GOVERNORS shut down their states’ business activity unnecessarily. The Congress and POTUS have little control over individual state laws and governor’s edicts. But the US Constitution does control what governors, Congress, and POTUS can and cannot do.

No one is SHIFTING blame. They are assigning it. Anyone who claims it is being shifted has a fantasy world perception, or TDS, that blame is assignable to those who did not issue the edicts.

We’re not shifting blame! Anyone who says we’re shifting blame is a blame shifter or liar themselves!

Except we ALL have eyes and ears, Polar. We all saw your president say 15 to 0 cases, or democratic hoax. We all see the 100,000 deaths while NO other country has 100,000 deaths. We all see the recent study from Columbia that says Trump’s delayed pandemic response is directly responsible for thousands of deaths. You can keep trying to deflect, you can even cry TDS (no one but Trump idiots think that’s clever) but it doesn’t change the reality we all live in, and your president is a failure. See you in November, 100k deaths!

I think the insurance carriers should pay these losses. They should also be allowed to charge a premium for this new exposure. The premium for this new exposure should be 100% of the losses paid out. Problem solved.

Recouping past insurance losses is illegal under every state’s statutes. Problem remains. Future premiums may reflect loss exposure, measured, or potential, estimated.

Insurance companies paying for claims for something they didn’t cover or charge for is to bankrupt the entire industry and it would equate to the government takeover of private insurance. Anyone thinking that should happen is a fool.

Both parties sold out the American people, bailed out the uber rich, as they did in 2008, and left Main Street twisting in the wind. GOPs and Dems alike somehow manage to get rich serving in public office. See a connection? They should thank Whoopi Goldberg and the rest of this crew for running interference on their behalf. Blame the greedy insurance industry, not the people in Congress who actually have the wherewithal to do what’s needed.

Why should the policy pay when i) the physical damage to the insured property condition is clearly stated, and ii) the premium does not contemplate this type of exposure?

It would be a dangerous, and disturbing, precedent if there were judicial mandates requiring such coverage, not to mention the rightful legal challenges that the insurers and reinsurers would mount.

Hope and pray that Judge Emmett Kelly Sullivan isn’t called on to rule on any such matter.

And Broadway should open up three shows a week for no charge to allow those who cannot afford a ticket to appreciate the arts, right? Hypocrites! Always generous with other peoples money.

DML – assuming you are asking because you are genuinely confused, I think John King is saying many of the Times Square protesters will be related to the adjacent theater industry. If they think the insurance industry should be doing something for nothing, then why don’t the theaters give away their product for free as well? Seems like an appropriate analogy.

If the insurance industry is forced to pay for coverage that was not specifically included, perhaps the lights in times square and elsewhere will be shut off indefinitely.
