The two liberal SCOTUS Justices who believe that QI provides absolute immunity, Sota-Mayor and Ruth Buzzi Ginsberg, haven’t paid attention to those cases where a very small number of police were convicted of wrongdoing. QI is merely a legally proper barrier that is necessary to maintain a civilized society not tied up in court by ambulance chaser attorneys.
The validity of a police officer’s actions are to be tried in court, and courts must not be burdened with frivolous, retaliatory legal actions that have no merit or substance.
The reason it’s a “very small number” is because people are regularly told by their attorneys that they have no case against the police even if the police blatantly broke the law. This happens constantly. Until Congress overturns this ridiculous law the police will continue to abuse their power and no one will truly be safe in this country. The entire system needs to be torn down and recreated as a real protector type of law enforcement as opposed to the warrior type we see now.
