Progressive Enters Voluntary Market with Expanded Pet Health Insurance Product

Progressive will enter the voluntary benefits market through a relationship with Pets Best, which is part of Care Credit, a Synchrony product.

Progressive Pet Insurance by Pets Best will be available to all U.S. companies looking to add pet insurance as a voluntary employee benefit. The Progressive branded product will be written and serviced by Pets Best.

Progressive and Pets Best have worked together since 2009, offering Pets Best pet health insurance plans to dog and cat owners across the U.S.

According to the American Pet Product Association (APPA), approximately 85 million households in the U.S. spent a combined $29.3 billion on veterinary care.

According to Chris Middleton, senior vice president and General Manager of Pets Best, the expanded expanded product offering with Progressive will reach business owners, HR managers, brokers and decision makers already using Progressive for commercial insurance.

Progressive Pet Insurance by Pets Best can be integrated on any benefit enrollment platform. Enrollees can select the amount of coverage that best fits their needs and have access to a free 24/7 Pet Helpline to address any pet wellness questions or concerns.

There’s no cost to employers to add Progressive Pet Insurance by Pets Best as a voluntary benefit. The pet insurance benefit is available to companies of any size and can be added at any time throughout the year. Employers have the option to pay for part or all of the pet insurance, or companies can choose to have their employees pay the premiums directly. Payroll deduction is also available to companies with at least 250 employees.

Progressive provides insurance for personal autos and commercial autos and trucks, motorcycles, boats, recreational vehicles, and homes. Home insurance is underwritten by select carriers, including majority owned subsidiaries, American Strategic Insurance Corp. and its affiliates (ASI).

Pets Best was founded in 2005 by veterinarian Dr. Jack Stephens to provide access to animal healthcare. In 1980 Stephens started pet insurance in the U.S. Pets Best offers pet insurance and wellness plans for dogs and cats in every state. In 2019 the company was acquired by Synchrony. Pets Best offers pet insurance for multiple fortune 500 companies. Pets Best is a founding member of NAPHIA.
