Nonprofits Insurance Alliance (NIA), a property and casualty (P&C) carrier exclusively serving 501(c)(3) organizations, has launched a new coverage to protect nonprofits from liability arising from communicable diseases. Beginning January 2021, NIA members can purchase NONPROFITS OWN Communicable Disease Liability Insurance that offers a sublimited amount of coverage to protect their organizations from liability claims arising from communicable disease.
Though NIA has offered communicable disease coverage for a vast majority of its nonprofit members for more than 30 years, the COVID-19 pandemic cause reinsurers to change what coverage they would support.
In response to P&C insurance industry restricting coverage, NIA conducted reviewd alternative ways to cover nonprofits. The new coverage option enables NIA, nonprofits’ own insurer, to continue to protect the critical services that 501(c)(3) nonprofits provide to their communities.
For an additional charge NIA offers Communicable Disease Coverage with a $250,000 of limit (loss and defense cost) in the commercial general liability policy form. Appointed brokers can learn more by contacting their NIA underwriter.
NIA has an established track record of financial strength. All insurers under the NIA group brand are rated A VIII (Excellent) by AM Best. NIA consistently achieves an average renewal rate of more than 90%.
