This is an attempt by Farmers to work with independent agencies at a greater level, they also may be seeing the writing on the wall that this is the future.

It’s more a play on the Employee Group Benefit side than for independent agents, I think. Otherwise, Jeff Dailey is one of the most impressive insurance executives that I’ve ever met (we were at Progressive together in the ’90s).

Perhaps there’s a reason he isn’t at Prog any longer…. he hasn’t done much to grow Farmers’ market share, company image, or competitive position. Perhaps this is him spending billions to buy an actuarial team?

I wish he would come to an agency and sit and do our job and try to get ahold of customer service and see how long he sits on hold. Many times over an hour hold wait. Not a great company at all.

Like Allstate saddling indies with the “National General” moniker – a brand known for minimum limit substandard auto, Farmers has now given us “Foremost,” a brand associated with aging, tattooed Harley riders. Wouldn’t the dormant “Esurance” and “21st Century” brands have been much better choices?

Oh come on, we all know the aging Harley brand belongs to Dairyland/Sentry. Foremost is know for mobile/manufactured homes. They even offer wind included right up to the beach front in Texas. With that kind of “innovation”, I can’t wait to start writing wind included MetLife homeowner policies on Galveston Island!

I stand corrected okt0ber: Foremost is the brand known for insuring the aging, tattooed double wide owner who wishes he could afford to buy a Harley!

I’m here bc I received an email from my insurance agency about this change. Is this the Farmers insurance that has the catchy jingle and tv ads? This is confusing.

I’m here because I just got my notice from MetLife and I’ve been with them a very long time.. Not sure if this is good or bad. Maybe a switch to Amica or State Farm is in order. I dunno..

We just had our first homeowners claim with Farmers Insurance. Horrific experience!! Claim was filed first week of June this year and we are still fighting with them to pay for damages. We have replacement cost in our policy and they paid ridiculously low, not close to covering costs to replace. Cannot find a contractor to hire to do the work for this amount, so Farmer’s sent out a contractor through their Contractor Connections Program knowing the program is shut down and they are booked into next year and cannot commit to doing job. So they have put us in a position, as to where we cannot hire a contractor to replace damages because they won’t pay actual replacement cost, and will not approve our contractor’s estimate who can start the job now. Don’t wait until you have a claim with FARMER’S CHANGE INSURANCE COMPANIES NOW!! Much Much more to this but I just wanted to get the message out RUN from Farmer’s Insurance!!

you get ACV…then the difference when you REPLACE (sign a contract) you don’t get RC if you don’t replace.

Do you think this acquisition will affect group rates offered by Met-Life ? It may be a easy way for Met-Life existing group rate customers to be told that famers is not honoring the previous rates.

I saw the automatic debit by Farmers on my checkbook statement. I had to go to my bank to find out if someone had hacked my account. We finally figured out that it was the same amount always debited for my met-life insurance monthly. I was never notified about the change, nor given any optins about what the new insurance would become. This was quite irresponsible on the part of both insurance companies and I would appreciate the courtesy of an explanation of what the sale to Farmers would mean to us.
    Thank you

I am not able to register my Pacifica because FARMERS keeps telling the Florida DMV that we do not have insurance. But, my agent showed me that on the system both of our cars are there. Because my husbands name is first they are threatening his license and my tags on my car. We have been fighting this for over a month and FARMERS keeps telling the state of Florida that we DO NOT have insurance. Found out yesterday that this is happening to a lot of people. Is anyone else having this problem? I was warned about FARMERS a long time ago and now I know why. My husbands car is fine, no problems but mine is in jeopardy.

It was a horrible mistake. Farmers is the worst company ever to work with. No customer service at all, everything is shipped to a call center (NOT IN AMERICA). Horrible Horrible Horrible.

MetLife had great customer service, never an issue, always US-based customer support. Farmers? What a disaster!! Took me 3 attempts just to change over to monthly billing, I got cut off 2x (their end), and no one ever called me back. All overseas-based support, their computer systems are slower than death…just horrible. The article states that according to Farmers, the policies would remain the same, just a name change. What lies!! My policy, immediately upon the new term, increased 12%. MetLife NEVER should have sold out!!

My Mom died in April. Can’t get anywhere with Metlife or whoever they are now. It’s like they are paying a game to delay payment. This is a measly $1000 life insurance policy my Mom purchased in 1944! I’ve submitted everything they have asked for, but now they want my dead brother and sister to fill out forms and I have no one to contact!
