AIG Appoints Tom Bolt EVP and Chief Risk Officer

American International Group (AIG) said Tom Bolt was named Executive Vice President and Chief Risk Officer, effective immediately. He replaces Sabra Purtill, who was named Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer for AIG’s Life & Retirement business. Bolt will report to Peter Zaffino, Chairman & CEO, and has joined the AIG Executive Leadership Team.

Bolt served as Chief Underwriting Officer, General Insurance, since 2018.Kean Driscoll has been named Chief Underwriting Officer, General Insurance, effective immediately, Since 2019, Driscoll served as Global Chief Underwriting Officer, Property/Agriculture, as well as Global Head of Reinsurance Strategy, General Insurance, since 2020.

Bolt joined AIG from Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance, where he was President and CEO of the U.K. and Southern Europe, and a member of Berkshire Hathaway International Insurance Ltd.’s Board of Directors. Prior to that, Mr. Bolt was Director of Performance Management at Lloyd’s of London and Managing Director of Marlborough Managing Agency at Lloyd’s. Before joining Lloyd’s, he spent 25 years at Berkshire Hathaway in a variety of senior executive roles.

Driscoll was a founding member of Validus and served as Chief Executive Officer of Validus Re from 2012 until he joined the AIG General Insurance Chief Underwriting Office in 2019.

RIMS Insurance Leader of Year: Progressive CEO Tricia Griffith

St. John’s University’s Maurice R. Greenberg School of Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science (GSRM), part of the university’s Peter J. Tobin College of Business, honored Tricia Griffith, President and Chief Executive Officer, The Progressive Corporation, as the “2020 Insurance Leader of the Year” April 11 at the NY Marriott Marquis in Manhattan after multiple pandemic-related postponements.

The 26th Annual “Insurance Leader of the Year Dinner” raised over $2.2 million for scholarship funds for the university’s GSRM students and will also provide new resources and support. Included in the total dollars raised is more than $500,000 in support of the Tricia Griffith St. John’s University Endowed Scholarship for Women in Insurance.

The prestigious “Insurance Leader of the Year Award” presented annually since 1995, recognizes the contributions of outstanding individuals whose leadership in the worldwide insurance and financial services industry sets them apart from their peers. The 2020 award dinner, which would normally have been conducted in January 2021, was postponed to 2022 to best enable an in-person celebration.

Tokio Marine HCC Appoints Ingerslev to SVP of U.S. Cyber & Tech

Tokio Marine HCC – Cyber & Professional Lines Group, a member of the Tokio Marine HCC group of companies, appointed Jacob Ingerslev as Senior Vice President of Cyber & Tech in the United States, reporting to Michael Palotay, President of the Cyber & Professional Lines Group.

Jacob has over 20 years’ experience in a wide range of underwriting disciplines across the US, European and Lloyd’s insurance markets. He joins from The Hartford where he has been Chief Underwriting Officer for the Cyber Risk and Technology E&O business for the last five years. Prior to this, Jacob was Head of US Technology E&O, Cyber and Media Liability at CNA, having first established CNA’s Cyber and Technology practice in Europe.

At the Cyber & Professional Lines Group, Jacob will be responsible for continuing to develop all aspects of the cyber proposition, bringing a particular focus to broker relationships, ongoing technological innovation and product development to accelerate the group’s continued growth.

CAC Specialty Appoints Frenier as Business Development Leader of Professional & Cyber

CAC Specialty welcomed Stephanie Snyder Frenier as Senior Vice President, Business Development Leader of Professional & Cyber Solutions to engage clients and prospects, to develop risk transfer solutions, and support marketing and sales strategies.

Frenier has over 18 years of experience in the insurance industry, focusing on cyber insurance and technology errors and omissions. She was previously Vice President and General Manager of insurance at BitSight, leading the insurance business unit and providing cyber insurance carriers, reinsurers, and brokers with cyber security ratings using data and analytics. Before BitSight, Stephanie was Vice President, Industry Solutions at VisibleRisk, a joint venture between Moody’s and Team8. She spent six years with Aon, most recently as SVP, Commercial Strategy Leader for Aon’s Cyber Solutions practice.
