Verisk Names Mourad President of Claims
Insurance data analytics firm Verisk announced that Maroun Mourad will begin serving as president, Claims Solutions, on July 1, succeeding Rich Della Rocca who is retiring.
In his career as a data analytics and insurance executive, Mourad has been growing businesses for 22 years in the United States, United Kingdom, Europe, and emerging markets. Mourad joined Verisk as senior vice president, Commercial Lines, in 2015. He advanced to president, ISO Commercial Lines, in 2017 and president, Global Underwriting, in 2020. When Verisk introduced its Life & Growth Markets division in underwriting, Mourad was named president. He held leadership roles at Gen Re, AIG, Arch, and Zurich, before joining Verisk.
Della Rocca is retiring from Verisk after 27 years with the company, having served the past two as president of claims.
Evans Joins Risk Strategies National Entertainment Practice
Boston-based specialty insurance broker Risk Strategies announced Paul Evans has joined the firm as an executive vice president in its national entertainment practice. At Risk Strategies, Evans will primarily focus on advertising, content production and contingency business.
An industry veteran with almost 30 years’ experience, Evans joins from Marsh’s hospitality, media and entertainment industry practice where he worked on all aspects of insurable risk, product and market development, and account service delivery. Originally from London, he led the UK and European sports, media and entertainment practice at HSBC Insurance Brokers prior to Marsh.
His expertise ranges from film, television, advertising, adverse weather, prize indemnity, brand reputational risk, and contingent terrorism, to global liability, over redemption, contractual bonus, and event cancellation insurance products.
Roamly Adds Heneen, Ballard
Recreational vehicle and travel market insurtech Roamly announced two key hires: Mary Heneen, former Good Sam’ s senior vice president, as chief commercial officer, and Jessica Ballard, former claims director for Root and Uber, as director of claims.
As chief commercial officer, Heneen will focus on Roamly’s insurance growth opportunities and partnerships. Prior to joining Roamly, Heneen worked in revenue growth development and marketing at several fortune 500 companies, including DIRECTV, Amazon, Comcast, Dish, and Nordstrom. Most recently, she spent six and a half years at Camping World in membership products — including Camping’s World’s insurance arm, Good Sam.
Ballard headed the claims team at personal auto insurtech, Root. Prior to her tenure at Root, she managed the North America claims team for Uber. Ballard has more than 15 years of experience in property/casualty insurance.
In the past year Roamly’s parent company, Outdoorsy Holdings, received $125 million in new funding to accelerate the product and international expansion. In 2022, Roamly launched its own pet insurance product for Americans who travel with their pets each year and a global travel Insurance product covering trip cancellation penalties.
