$4 Billion of property damage is trivially small relative to increases in gas prices. But what time period is involved in that amount? The article SEEMS to imply the time period is a decade.

Assume a $2 increase in gas prices over the recent 18 months of Biden Bumbling Decisions.
Multiply that conservatively low estimate, rounded to $2 for ease of math calculations, by hundreds of millions of gallons of gas consumed in the US per month…. and more over ‘a decade’. That’s much more than $4B, so the math says the costs of cleanup can be offset by a small portion of the $2 increase.

Releasing CO2 into the atmosphere is a GOOD THING.
Releasing methane, as part of the 26.6 billion cu. ft of emissions is not as bad as it seems, and the actual amount of methane is ‘buried’ along with the CO2 in the total of 26.6 billion.
Methane gas is released from many sources other than oil & gas production.

Deaths of 122 people is a bad thing. But 1 million people died of COVID in the US, and hundreds of thousands died from fetanyl ODs largely due to an open border with Mexico and unhindered egress of criminals and drug traffickers through that border.

So, the focus of this article on the Oil & Gas industry is disingenuous relative to other, more serious problems that should be confronted by our leaders.
