October 23, 2002

The Independent Insurance Agents of Texas named William Wade director of Insurance Programs. Wade will be responsible for strategic planning, implementation and management of IIAT’s wide variety of quality insurance markets and products designed to meet the needs of IIAT members. He reports to executive director David VanDelinder.

“We are pleased to welcome Bill Wade to IIAT,” said VanDelinder. “Few insurance executives can offer the broad range of experience and depth of understanding Wade brings in developing insurance marketing strategies. Most of Bill’s professional experience as a successful insurance executive has been in the Texas insurance market, and we believe that will prove invaluable for the IIAT membership, especially as product and service delivery becomes increasingly competitive and complex. ”

Wade brings more than 25 years of business and insurance industry experience to IIAT, most recently serving in senior executive capacities during a 10-year ownership transition of four companies. Prior to joining IIAT, he was acting president of the Gulf Region for Liberty Regional Agency Markets, Dallas, immediately following divestiture from One Beacon Insurance. While at One Beacon Insurance Company in Dallas, he was four-state regional president. Prior to that he served as regional president for four branches in three states for CGU Insurance Company before it was acquired by One Beacon.

CGU was formed through a merger of General Accident Insurance Companies and Commercial Union. Wade was regional vice president of two branches in three states for Commercial Union prior to that merger.

Wade was also vice president and chief operating officer of a large San Antonio independent agency with four locations. While there he directed personal lines sales and service, claims, the select customer unit, all commercial service and company liaison assignments. He has also held various line and management positions with Fireman’s Fund Insurance including branch manager in Cincinnati, Ohio, and in San Antonio. Further, he served as sales/marketing executive at the home office in San Francisco and as an underwriter in several branch offices.

Wade has an extensive service background in professional associations having served as past president of both the CPCU Society in San Antonio and the Independent Insurance Agents of San Antonio. He is past chairman and founding member of the Insurance Services Office of Texas. He has served as an officer on the executive boards of both the Insurance Council of Texas and Southwestern Insurance Information Services.
