The Louisiana Workers’ Compensation Advisory Council plans to meet on Oct. 7, 2004, to begin drafting legislation for the 2005 Legislative Session.
The meeting will begin 9 a.m. at the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry Conference Center at 3113 Valley Creek Drive in Baton Rouge.
The council advises the Governor on the administration of the workers’ compensation system and suggests legislation and administrative changes. Its membership represents labor, business interests, self-insured employers, the Louisiana State Medical Society, the Louisiana Orthopedic Association, attorneys representing both employers and claimants in workers’ compensation cases and the general public.
Karen Reiners Winfrey, LDOL’s assistant secretary for the Office of Workers’ Compensation, is the council chairperson.
The group’s meetings are open to the public.
