The Louisiana Department of Insurance reported its Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) has released the new 2005 Medicare Supplement Comparison Guide to help citizens over 65 shop for Medicare Supplement Insurance.
“We produce this booklet annually to help Louisiana’s Medicare beneficiaries make decisions regarding the types of insurance policies they can purchase to supplement their Medicare health benefits,” said Commissioner of Insurance Robert Wooley. “The Comparison Guide is another part of our ongoing efforts to help Louisiana citizens gain a basic understanding of the insurance information that is a vital part of their daily lives.”
“The Comparison Guide is the result of a SHIIP survey of insurers, and gives the public the most up-to-date information on premiums available,” said SHIIP Director Alan Heumann.
The easiest way to access the Medicare Supplement Comparison Guide is online, at www.ldi.state.la.us, but citizens can also get a copy of the SHIIP Guide by contacting their area’s SHIIP-affiliated Council on Aging, or by calling the SHIIP toll-free number, (800) 259-5301.
SHIIP is the state health insurance assistance program from the Louisiana Department of Insurance. The program provides objective counseling and information on Medicare and senior insurance products at no cost.
