The 13th annual Mid-Year Property and Casualty Insurance Symposium will be held Thursday, July 14 at the Austin Marriott at the Capitol Hotel in Austin, Texas. The symposium is presented by the Insurance Council of Texas (ICT) and the Association of Fire and Casualty Companies in Texas (AFACT).
Some 300 senior industry mangers attend the Symposium and the event has been sold out every year. This year’s theme is “Finding the Right Formula.” Symposium speakers include Dr. Robert Hartwig, who will discuss the Texas marketplace, Jay Thompson, who will review the 79th Texas legislative session and Dr. Steve Murdock, the official State Demographer of Texas, who will share his research on the state’s population trends.
The luncheon speaker will be Texas Supreme Court Justice Phil Johnson, the newest member of the state’s highest court. In the afternoon, Rick Gentry, ICT Executive Director, will discuss Texas marketplace issues with panelists Jo Betsy Norton of Allstate, Craig Sparks of Union Standard, Joe Woods of PCI, James Langford of Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Companies and State Representative Larry Taylor. The Symposium will also feature the Raymond Mauk Award, given to an individual for his or her lifetime achievements in the insurance industry.
