The Independent Insurance Agents of Houston announced that IIAH has been contacted by IIABA about the possibility of setting up an “agency buddy system” with the three state associations hit by Hurricane Katrina. Through the buddy system, claim calls will be forwarded from the devastated agency to another “buddy agency” for handling.
The association said several agents that evacuated to Houston have already begun contacting IIAH seeking assistance in locating a place where they can begin their claims handling for this disaster.
IIAH is asking organizations that have a spare office, conference or training room that some of these agents may use for an unspecified time frame to contact either Renee Stager at rstager@iiah.org or Carole Shelton at cshelton@iiah.org to place their company name on the list of available locations.
