Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco has extended the State of Emergency for Hurricane Katrina through Oct.25, 2005.
As a result, according to the Louisiana Department of Insurance, Emergency Rules 15, 16 and 17 are automatically renewed and will continue in full force as long as Governor Blanco keeps the State of Emergency in effect for all, or any portion of, the seven affected parishes.
The emergency rules govern insurers’ actions regarding cancellation and non-renewal of policies, and payment of claims, among other things. Full text of the emergency rules may be found on the Louisiana Department of Insurance Web site at www.ldi.state.la.us/HurricaneKatrina.htm.
The department is updating the hurricane recovery page on its Web site daily.
