The company said Grocers’s clients will now have access to expertise and specialized services to develop efficient and cost effective health and benefits programs. Grocers’ works with its client to produce solid information and analysis on the best way to deliver affordable benefits based on the size and special characteristics of a client’s business.

A wide variety of program options are available, including self-funded plans, providing independent food merchants with the choices they need to maintain a competitive position in today’s marketplace.

Bill Meisen, president of Grocers Insurance, stated, “As a specialty underwriter, Grocers Insurance is committed to delivering enhanced products and services which address the unique risk profile of our independently-owned food industry customer base. By adding health and benefits insurance to our line of brokerage services, we are responding to a critical concern of our agents and customers.

“Independent food merchants often lack access to many of the specialized services and product alternatives used by their larger competitors manage costs in their health insurance and benefits programs,” Meisen added. “They also have needs in terms of coverage and program design that are often not being met by products available in the traditional insurance market. The goal of this program is to fill these gaps and deliver quality coverage and benefits at an affordable cost to our customer base.”
