The Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers’ Compensation will present a one-day educational seminar on Fall Protection and Trenching and Shoring, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Apr. 12.
The seminar will take place at Windsor Suites, Embassy Room 2, 9090 SW Freeway, Houston, Texas.
The cost is $99 per person and registration begins at 7:30 a.m.
Course participants will learn about Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations that apply to fall protection as specified in 19 CFR 1926 and the basic safety concepts for trenching and shoring. The seminar will include information on the following topics:
–Employer responsibilities for fall protection;
–Fall protection requirements for specified work areas;
–Proper procedures for fall protection systems inspection;
–Requirements for protection from falling objects;
–The six fall protection systems;
–Elements of fall protection planning;
–Guidelines for developing emergency response planning;
–Training requirements of Subchapter M;
–General requirements of trench operations;
–Trenching terminology;
–Soil mechanics;
–Trenching protective systems; and
–General requirements for excavation.
