The Professional Insurance Agents of Louisiana issued an alert to insurance producers and other interested parties regarding two bills currently under consideration in the Louisiana House of Representatives Insurance Committee.
The House Insurance Committee meets Wed., May 17 at 9:00 a.m. to consider House Bill 1272, which PIA supports and HB 1358, which PIA opposes.
According to PIA of La., HB 1272 by Rep. Johns would require certain property insurers to maintain written catastrophe response plans.
HB 1358 by Rep. Karen Carter would provide insureds with a private cause of action for certain acts. The proposed law establishes private rights of action against independent agents and adjusters for certain acts. .
PIA is urging agents to contact House insurance committee members and other state representatives regarding these bills.
