CAA Elects New Management Committee

At its annual meeting May 24-25, Combined Agents of America LLC (CAA), based in Austin, Texas, announced its newly elected 2006 management committee, including CAA’s new president, Bill Bridges, executive vice president for Duncan, Fraser & Bridges Insurance Agency Inc., Pampa, Texas.

“Last year proved to be one of our best as CAA achieved over $326 million in combined property and casualty premiums, and we approved several new member agencies,” said Jerry Boles, CAA chairman and president of Grona Boles & Martin Insurance & Financial Services, San Antonio. “Growth continues to be our primary goal. CAA’s internal networking is the driving force of our success, and as our membership increases, our knowledge pool deepens.”

Each management committee member is elected to serve a two-year term and is selected by CAA’s board of members based on their leadership abilities and contributions to the organization. The new management committee includes:

–Chairman of the Board – Jerry Boles, president of Grona Boles & Martin Insurance & Financial Services, San Antonio. Boles is a graduate of Texas A&M University and was a past president of the Texas A&M Association of Former Students.
–President – Bill Bridges, executive vice president of Duncan, Fraser & Bridges, Pampa. Bridges serves on the Texas Mutual Agents’ Council and the Travelers’ Regional Agents Council. He previously served as president of the Independent Insurance Agents of the Panhandle and on Republic’s Commercial Lines Council.
–Executive Vice President – Michael Sachse, vice president of Walthall Sachse & Pipes, Inc., San Antonio.
–Second Vice President – Johnny Shropshire, president of The Shropshire Agency Inc., Lubbock. Shropshire serves on the United Fire Agents’ Council and is the former President of the Independent Insurance Agents of Lubbock.
–Secretary – Don C. Jones, president of Crockett Insurance Service, president of Houston-Walker Counties Insurance Service & Crockett Financial Service, Crockett.
–Treasurer – Jim Norris, CEO of Henry Norris Insurance Agency Inc., Lamesa, TX. Norris is a graduate of Southern Methodist University with a BBA in insurance.
–Past President – Brent Borgstedte, president of GBS Insurance Agency Inc., Bellaire. Borgstedte is also a member of the Independent Insurance Agents of Houston’s board of directors.

CAA’s member agencies convene on a quarterly basis to knowledge share, discuss industry issues, review its relationships with insurance carriers, and assess CAA operations. Highlights from the recent board meeting include:

–New member presentation to independent agency prospects.
–Insurance carrier presentations by Kemper Insurance Companies, AOA Group, Inc., Milton O. Johnston & Company Ltd., and U.S. Risk Insurance Group Inc.
–U.S. Risk Insurance Group Inc.-sponsored dinner for CAA members.
–Member golf tournament at The Tribute Golf Club, The Colony, Texas.

Founded in 1997 Combined Agents of America is comprised of 35 independent insurance agencies located throughout the state. By funneling the agencies’ combined premiums, CAA brings larger volume commitments to insurance companies, while enabling its members to greatly improve their bottom line and realize greater benefits from insurance companies, vendor discounts, profit sharing and other incentives.
