The Louisiana State Police announced that its Troop E is conducting several insurance checkpoints Oct. 5 through Oct. 9.
Checkpoints were tentatively scheduled for Oct. 5, 2006, in Grant and Rapides Parishes; Saturday, Oct. 7 in Rapides and Avoyelles Parishes; and Monday, Oct. 9 in Rapides Parish. In the event of inclement weather, the checkpoints will be rescheduled for Sunday, Oct. 8, 2006, or Oct. 10, 2006, in the designated parishes.
Troopers will be checking to make sure that all vehicles that travel through the checkpoint have valid liability insurance.
Motorists are reminded that Louisiana law requires that all vehicles have proof of insurance in their vehicles at all times.
Any driver that does not have proof of insurance in the vehicle will be issued a compulsory insurance violation and their vehicle could be towed on the spot.
