Philip Alan Hood on Jan.9, 2007, was named by Gov. Mike Beebe as the labor representative for the Arkansas Workers’ Compensation Commission, AWCC announced.
He was appointed by the governor to a six-year term after serving an appointment at another state agency, the Workforce Investment Board. He had been there since 2004.
The Arkansas Workforce Investment Board links employers and jobseekers through a statewide delivery system.
Hood holds several licenses and certifications, including a multi-line insurance license and security licenses. He served as a professional in Arkansas insurance and financial services. Hood is a member of the Office Professional Employees International Union Local 105, where he serves as president.
He worked in the air transportation industry for approximately 10 years. While there, he was a member of the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers. Hood served as president for more than a thousand members of his local. It was composed of employees from Northwest Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and TWA.
He currently serves the membership of the Arkansas AFL-CIO as an executive board member. He also serves on several committees including pension and legislation committees.
