Hurricane-affected homeowners in Louisiana who want to participate in the state’s home rebuilding and buyout program have until Dec. 1 to schedule their initial appointments.
The Road Home program says all appointments also must be completed by Dec. 15. If homeowners don’t meet these deadlines, Road Home says they won’t be eligible for aid.
Road Home is a federally funded, state-run program set up to help property owners after the 2005 hurricanes. It faces a potential multibillion dollar shortfall and stopped taking applications July 31 in an effort to help determine what the program’s financial need is.
Homeowners can schedule their first appointments by calling 1-888-762-3252.
