Van Wagoner Companies Inc., a Dallas-based subsidiary of independent Lloyd’s broker Chesterfield Group, has appointed James V. Flitt as marketing executive and North American marketing director for Chesterfield Insurance Brokers Limited.
Flitt has more than 40 years of retail and wholesale insurance experience in the U.S. and London markets. He will work with Simon Bancroft, executive vice president at Van Wagoner, to grow the company’s existing business and increase Van Wagoner’s brokerage presence, in addition to developing new markets, products and sources of business for Van Wagoner and the Chesterfield Group.
Bancroft indicated that Van Wagoner’s strategic focus in the near term would be on building sales of various insurance products, and that Flitt would be a key player in those efforts.
Van Wagoner, one of the oldest operating surplus lines broker and managing general agents in Texas, was founded by Paul Van Wagoner in 1939 to underwrite oilfield and inland marine insurance for Lloyd’s of London and other insurance companies. It now offers a full slate of products for various commercial property and casualty risks. The company was acquired by the Chesterfield Group in 2005.
