Reid, Evans Appointed to Oklahoma Workers’ Compensation Court

Oklahoma Gov. Brad Henry has appointed two new judges to the Oklahoma Workers’ Compensation Court.

Judge David Reid of Tulsa will fill the Office 6 position previously held by Mary Black and Judge Owen Evans of Tulsa will fill the Office 7 position previously held by Tom Leonard, the governor’s office reported.

Reid has worked in private law practice in Tulsa for almost 20 years in addition to serving as a mediator for the Oklahoma Workers’ Compensation Court and a legal clerk for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court.

Evans has practiced law in Tulsa for the last 25 years.

“I have the highest confidence in Judge Reid and Judge Evans and appreciate their willingness to serve the state,” said Gov. Henry.

In June, Gov. Henry signed bills that reduced the number of Workers’ Compensation Court judges from 10 to eight and require that five judges be assigned to Oklahoma City and three to Tulsa. The measures also require judges to have five years’ experience in the field and restrict the tenure of judges to one eight-year term.
