If it’s bad enough for the State to seek federal disaster relief, why isn’t it bad enough for State Farm to ask for a catastrophe declaration?

If they got the declaration, do they not still need to pay the claims on their policyholders like the other carriers are having to do?

With the number of losses that have happened in such a short period of time, the ruls for claim payment deadlines could be softened to allow the companies to handle all claims properly. There are not enough competent adjustors available to handle this many fires in a short time span. Insureds should also be given some leeway to submit claim documentation also.
