Commissioner of Insurance Jim Donelon announced that Ron C. Henderson has been appointed Deputy Commissioner of Consumer Advocacy for the Louisiana Department of Insurance.
As head of the Office of Consumer Advocacy, Henderson and his staff receive inquiries and complaints from consumers as well as prepare and disseminate pertinent information to the public relative to consumer issues in the insurance arena.
Henderson is no stranger to the Louisiana Department of Insurance. He began his career with the department in 1998 as a student worker in the Office of Property and Casualty and later in the Office of Licensing. After receiving his Juris Doctorate from the Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge and passing the Louisiana Bar, he was promoted to the position of attorney in the department’s Legal Division in 2000.
In June 2001, Henderson was appointed Deputy Commissioner of Licensing and Compliance, a position he successfully served in for more than a decade before leaving in August 2011 to pursue employment in the private sector.
Henderson returned to the Department of Insurance in February 2012 rejoining the department’s Legal Division as part of its Legislative Team, responsible for proposing and drafting departmental legislation as well as drafting regulations and directives for the department.
