I doubt they will get much out of the driver other than policy limits and they may do better against the club if they had Liquor Liability, but probably not near the amount awarded. Perhaps the club will claim bankruptcy and go out of business. Who knows what the end result will be on a tragic case like this. The club obviously served someone who was already inebriated. I thought TABC rules state the bartenders have to have specialized training to keep from serving someone who is drunk. If they did, they disregarded it and thus the huge award.
The TABC training is just a quick online course that costs, I believe, $20. Anyone can do it online. I’m sure they will get policy limits from the auto, GL, and liquor liability. Probably won’t cover the entire judgement, though.
