20 Texas Students Receive Insurance Education Scholarships

Twenty insurance and risk management students at five Texas universities were recently awarded a total of $23,000 in academic scholarships from the Insurance Council of Texas (ICT) Education Foundation.

The students attend Huston-Tillotson University, Texas Southern University, the University of Texas Pan American, the University of Texas at San Antonio and the University of Houston Downtown.

Since the program began in 2002, the Insurance Council of Texas Education Foundation has awarded approximately $600,000 to 283 insurance and risk management students at 10 Texas universities.

Each student received a scholarship as well as an invitation to attend ICT’s annual Mid-Year Symposium in Austin where approximately 300 insurance industry leaders gather to hear an update on the Texas marketplace. Each year, 100 percent of the Mid-Year Symposium sponsorships, company and individual donations go toward the ICT scholarships and academic funding.

ICT scholarship recipients at Huston-Tillotson were Deon Howard, Chasity Hattley and Chardonnay Nicholas.

The ICT scholarship recipient at Texas Southern University was Tashina Taylor.

ICT scholarship recipients at the University of Texas Pan American were Alessandra Barrica, Roel Navarro, Bertha Rodriguez, Francisco Saenz and Hiteshu Bhakta.

ICT scholarship recipients at the University of Texas at San Antonio were Blanco Coronado, Sarah Fishburn, Joseph Fodero, Lufang Liu and Jean Yves Nguessan.

ICT scholarship recipients at the University of Houston Downtown were Anna Berry, Mohamed Diarra, Justin Gonzalez, Stacy Massey, Thien Nguyen and Manuel Solano.
