At first reading I thought 10 years for stealing $250 was just a little harsh. Until I read further into the article that the number was just a leedle beet off.

I expected to be able to comment something along the lines of Texas takes fraud seriously. Now, it’s just a proofing error. That’s no fun – they’re everywhere!
10 years for causing about $500,000 in economic damages?
What I say next is not meant to minimize the severity of his crime nor the need for punishment, but he would have gotten less time in prison if he would have killed someone or committed most types of assault.
Attack in December 2012, conviction in September 2013, punishment announced a few days after verdict, hopefully sentence will be carried out before the end of the year. There’s justice.
Meanwhile, we pay millions for the trial of “Bradley” Manning who now says “call me Chelsea”. Nidal Hassan shoots dozens in Fort Hood, TX in 2009, he was finally convicted summer 2013, more millions spent, though dozens of witnesses and video evidence all clearly show he is guilty.
And some guy does $500,000 in economic damage and gets 10 years in prison?
insurange agent`s fraud. fraud is a crime committed by agent representing the company and the poor customers suffered. agent`s fraud is company`s liability and hence punishment is just and reasonable and a lesson to agents/brokers who have tendency to commit crime on behalf of the company. customers should be more careful and insurers should desist from appointing those agents
It is a bad news listen that but he not are not above the law.
Edwin–I had to give you a thumbs down because I just can’t understand what the heck you are trying to say…
Edwin, I couldn’t have said it any better.

Our criminal justice system is so screwed up.
Meanwhile, in India, a judge announced a punishment of death in less than two minutes for those convicted of a brutal gang rape that killed a woman. See http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-09-13/delhi-rape-guilty-sentenced-to-death-for-brutal-sexual-assault.html for story.

So if causing $500,000 gets you 10 years then Obuma should get 1,000,000,000 years for $7tril. Right?
AJAJ,
With that logic, every President since 1914 should have gone to prison with the exception of Warren Harding, Calivin Coolidge and Bill Clinton.
