The Sorrento Town Council in Louisiana tabled two insurance quote offers that would insure the police department.
The police department was dissolved after it lost coverage in November. The chief and assistant are still patrolling the town and answering calls during the day, while sheriff’s deputies patrol the town at night and during the weekends through March.
At a recent meeting, town leaders learned one quote offers liability insurance for only the chief and his assistant and has a premium of $45,000. The quote wouldn’t cover sexual abuse and molestation or assault and battery claims without an additional cost.
Policy writers of another quote asked for more time to offer a better price and more coverage.
WBRZ TV reports the council will discuss the insurance quotes at their next meeting.
